Push: What Heroes would look like if it were a movie

I saw this trailer for a movie called Push the other day about people living with superpowers. While I know that Heroes didn’t invent comic book superhero tropes (being comic book tropes and all), the movie’s similarities to Heroes are very peculilar…

Male in his 20s with dark hair with telekinetic power… check
Someone who can see the future by drawing… check
The pupils of someone who’s seeing the future get cloudy… check
A strange company is chasing the supers… check
Someone who can push thoughts into someone else’s head… check
Precocious little girl who is the key to everything… check
Experiments on supers… check
Guy who can scream so loud he shatters glass… check

Of course, it still looks pretty good in that January/February schlock kind of way.

Having never watched an episode of *Heroes *before, showing this to me and telling me it’s similar dulls my curiosity.

I just saw the trailer for this today.

I think for anyone in their mid-thirties or older, I think that the resemblance to Heroes is unremarkable compared to the striking resemblance to Firestarter.

I mean, Dakota Fanning is basically Drew Barrymore c. 1984, and there she is…on the run with her dad, who’s using his push for minor hustles, persued by a shadowy government agency… It looks like the same freaking movie.

I just saw this trailer today too. The first thing that I thought was, “Cool, they made a sequel to Jumper”.

Trailer, for anyone interested. (What else is it a transparent rip-off of, I wonder?)
