Pushing Daisies back in the Fall

Woooohooooo! I just saw the commercial during Lost. I was afraid it was a goner after the strike.

Did they ever lose that awful narration that made the show unwatchable for me?

The facts are these: The narration is part of the charm.

This isn’t exactly news. ABC previously announced it would be back in the fall, with a promotional campaign over the summer. I’d figure they’d show the first season over again leading up to the second season premiere.

[Disembodied voice]It is a sad fact that this wonderful show known as Pushing Daisies is obviously not meant for some and that this some would include Baldwin[/dv]
I love the show and everything about the show. I eagerly await its return. I have every episode but the Pie-lette on my DVR. I guess at some point I need to move them off, but in the meantime my daughter likes to play these from time to time. The whole family we got completely into this show. I haven’t enjoyed a new show this much since Northern Exposure.

Jim

I saw the commercial for it and I cheered and clapped. The dog looked at me funny.
Can’t wait!

I saw about five minutes of this show earlier this year and I agree with you entirely.

The narration adds to the fairy-tale-ness of the show. Plus it’s Jim Dale! I love his voice.

I knew it was coming back because I had read that Kristin Chenoweth & Raul Esparza were shooting some episodes, but the commercial made me so happy! This was my favorite new show of last year and it really makes HDTV worth all the extra money.

The time to push them back is in the SPRING. They die back all on their own in the Fall.

What?

*** Ponder

Speaking of Jim Dale, it is a little odd that he starred in a movie in 1973 called Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World.

I love the show … it’s very … whimsical.

Jim Dale? As is the bloke from the Carry On films back in the sixties? Ooh Matron!

Yes he is, I was just trying to figure out what those were. Apparently he was in about 10 of the 29 ‘Carry On’ films. They sound rather silly and only a few are available on Netflix.

I know him from the Broadway musical Barnum, for which he won a Tony Award as the title role. He also narrates the audio versions of the Harry Potter books.

I was so happy when I saw the commercial during Lost I jumped off the couch. I can’t wait for the fall return. I think it has the best sets out of any show on television.

The narration is part of the charm of the show, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Everything about this show charms me, enthralls me. I love the narration…I feel like a little girl, tucked up in bed, teddy bear cuddled up in my arm, thundering rainstorm outside, while my father reads me a bedtime story.

That, or sitting around a campfire, toasting marshmallows, and Sampiro clears his throat and says, “You know, there was this one time…”

You settle back, get comfy, and just listen.

Nobody here, besides myself, knows how hard it is to get Jayjay to watch a TV show. Pushing Daisies had him from the first episode on. We both eagerly await the new season here.
PS. I agree that the narration adds a special something to the whimsical nature of the show. It wouldn’t be the same without it.

When Pushing Daisies started I hated the narration (as I commented here at the time) to the point where I kept saying that I wasn’t going to watch it after it was apparent that it was not going to go away. I didn’t even add it to my DVR listings. Yet every week I ended up watching it anyway. And one week when for some reason I missed it, I went to ABC’s website and watched it there.

What this says about me, or the show, I’m not sure. But I have a feeling I’m going to keep watching it when it comes back.

I didn’t mind the narrator, but the show just made me sad. I kept thinking of loved ones I’d like to speak to and I can’t. And every episode got me more depressed.

I don’t think that was the intended effect of the show and was just an aspect of my personality.
