Put some damned clothes on--you're in church!

I’ve never seen reason to object to what anyone was wearing in church, I don’t think … but I’m pretty open and accepting. (Although, the dog collars kids wear these days bother me, for some reason.)

I usually wear a t-shirt and shorts (or jeans) to church, and I don’t think anybody’s ever objected … I’ve always felt (like the previous two posters, that God doesn’t really care what’s on my body, as long as my heart/soul is pure. I hope that’s what He thinks… =))

When I was in Italy, I know everyone was required to have their knees and shoulders covered in order to enter a (Catholic) church, and women were also asked to have their heads covered. Some places still keep the old ways…

Given that God has, by all reports, seen us naked, I would tend to think He cares less about our outfits than about our attitudes. A reverent person in tattered bluejeans is better than a flirtatious person in somber attire.

Naturally society’s conventions play a big part in how churchgoers view one another. In many communities, church was (and still is) the one place where everyone see one another, and people dress up accordingly. You wouldn’t want the neighbors to think you were a slob, now, would you?
