Put the white back in the White House

I wasn’t responding to you. I was responding to RUserious.

The two posters I was referring to were RUserious and burningchr0me. I recognize you and you’ve obviously been around here a long time.

Lots of misunderstandings in this thread for some reason.

Whooshes too.

I was pitting the assclown wearing the t-shirt and the general mindset which I’m sure that he shares with some other Romney voters. As far as the crowd goes, some may agree with him, some may be afraid of him, some may just not want to create a scene, some may be strong free speech advocates, and many may not have even seen the back of his shirt.

Oh, good grief.

Romney is not playing the race card. But racists like you are. " (read, other black people)" is such total bullshit. I would say shame on you, but if you had any concept of shame, you would not have posted that.

My neighbor has a HUGE sign on her lawn that says, “I’d rather vote for a MORMON than a MUSLIM!”

Code words, my friend. Read up on them, then listen to his off-script remarks.

“Nobody asked to see my birth certificate.”

Just sayin’.

OMFG—among the supporters of Romney/Ryan there is at least one racist! Who would have guessed?

In fact, I’m not even 100% sure that’s a racist message. 99.5% sure, yeah. If/when we live in a post-racist society, it’d be innocuous to identify or punnily support your candidate by some insignificant cosmetic trait that happens to distinguish them from their rival, like race or skin color—but of course we’re not there yet and may never be.

I believe there is still some debate on the question as to whether or not Mitt Romney is the whitest man in the world.

It’s interesting to see the people coming in here and trying to dismiss or minimize this assclown by attacking a strawman or suggesting that maybe the guy’s a plant or being ironic or something.

Can’t get worked up over anything this asinine.

The dancing horse thing works strongly in his favor.

I see Clothahump is still in denial about dog whistle campaigns. Surprised I’m not.

You mean THAT second line of the OP that says he’s certain it’s NOT an official t-shirt?

Hilarious!

One problem Randy Newman has (believe it or not, I once worked for him, just to drop a name) is his subtlety. If you take the lyrics at face value, and not tongue-in-cheek as I believe they were intended, you might think he was serious.

This song falls in the same genre as Yellow Man and Short People.

What’s funny is that I included that in the OP because I knew that people would come in here crying the obvious, that it’s not an official t-shirt. I figured I could forestall that by explicitly stating the obvious.

Looks like it was a wasted effort. Although it did show who does and doesn’t bother to actually read an OP.

Read an OP?! In Elections?!

I don’t suppose anyone remembers the 1972 film The Man in which a black senator (James Earl Jones) succeeds to the presidency, whereupon one racist congressman grumbles “The White House ain’t near white enough for me tonight.”

Obviously, it’s not an official Romney/Ryan T-shirt. Yes, there are racists in the world, the First Amendment allows them to spew racist messages, and you can find them in every party. There are racist Obama supporters too:

Frankly, since anyone with an IQ above 50, no matter how racist, would know wearing a shirt like this to a Romney rally would be picked up and used against Romney, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out this is an Obama “dirty tricks” squad member, as was done in the past, in Tea Party rallies for instance.

Seriously, if I have to choose between this guy being sincere and being a plant, sincere is the much more likely choice. We all know that there are people like that, so why hypothesize that some Obama supporter would do it to try to convince us of something we already know?

Regarding the Stacey Dash thing, I suppose it’s relevant and equivalent to some right-wing minds that are desperate to show equivalence, but seriously, it’s not the same thing.

Other blacks calling her a house slave for supporting Romney is racist how? It’s certainly inappropriate, but racist? Only to people desperate for equivalence.

You know, most people don’t see themselves as the bad guy. Most people think their own beliefs are right, because they wouldn’t believe something that’s wrong. And a lot of people think that if they could just find the perfect way to express their opinion, they could get everyone else to admit that deep down they believe as they do, because, y’know, they’re right, even if nobody else wants to admit that.

I have no trouble believing that an avowed racist would find that shirt very clever, and see nothing wrong with wearing it to a rally, because, after all, it’s the truth, if people would just see it.
