Put the white back in the White House

Well, if nothing else, I bet the person wearing that shirt knows how to feed the animals.

Remember Romney was a member of the Mormon Church when they were a flat-out racist organization. He supported this racist group with both his time and his money. He has never apologized for being a part of and supporting a racist group. The Mormon Church today tries to indirectly support the policies of the Nazis by attempting to convert Jews out of history by going after the dead, including Holocaust victims.
Is it any surprise that the white power movement would be attracted to Romney?

"Saddling itself with some pro-slavery views at the time of the Civil War, and also with a “bible” of its own that referred to black people as a special but inferior creation, the Mormon Church did not admit black Americans to the priesthood until 1978, which is late enough—in point of the sincerity of the “revelation” they had to undergo—to cast serious doubt on the sincerity of their change of heart.

More recently, and very weirdly, the Mormons have been caught amassing great archives of the dead, and regularly “praying them in” as adherents of the LDS, so as to retrospectively “baptize” everybody as a convert. (Here the relevant book is Alex Shoumatoff’sThe Mountain of Names.) Ina hollowed-out mountain in the Mormons’ stronghold state of Utahis a colossal database assembled for this purpose. Now I have no objection if Mormons desire to put their own ancestors down for posthumous salvation. But they also got hold of a list of those put to death by the Nazis’ Final Solution and fairly recently began making these massacred Jews into honorary LDS members as well. Indeed, when the practice was discovered, the church at first resisted efforts to make them stop. Whether this was cultish or sectarian it was certainly extremely tactless: a crass attempt at mass identity theft from the deceased."

Now three.

I’m trying to decide whether this is an example of Godwin’s Law.

There are lines in Christmas in Capetown that, to this day, send a chill down my spine. Did his brother actually work there, as the song says? Were he and Warren Zevon buds?

It’s a standard wingnut internet trope to reflexively claim that all the racists photogrpaphed at Republican rallies are really just Democratic “operatives” trying to make them look bad.

… Because, as we all know, there’s no racism anymore, and anyway liberals are the real racists, and something about Al Sharpton.

Paint The White House Black, by the best Clinton of them all.

Oh, it’s always most likely a plant. Because it’s so hard to find actual racists who don’t like having a black president.

You damned liberals are always painting the whole GOP with the actions of large groups within the GOP. When will you learn that the actions of the GOP’s members and leadership in no way reflect on the GOP itself?

Yeah, whenever republicans try to claim that these guys are few and far between, just point them to the poll that shows 46% of Mississippi republicans would like to return to a ban on interracial marriage. 14% were unsure.

Or that 1 in 5 republicans nationally believe Obama is secretly a Muslim.

I did create the account just to reply to this thread… I’m pretty sure I had an account here long ago, but I couldn’t remember the password and I no longer have access to the isp’s email address I used to use to sign up to sites… I first saw that pic on the “Re-elect President Obama” page on facebook, and at the time, there were around 2500+ comments on it, most of them being “I knew Republicans were racist!”, not just “that guy is an a**hole”… So I thought I’d drop by and see what was being said on The Straight Dope…

Yeah, and because we all know there are people like that, it would make it very easy to use something like this to energize a lulled voting base… The American political system is built around convincing you and me that “that other guy in that party over there is evil and you should only trust me”… That dude wearing that shirt could very well be a racist for all I know, but the nagging doubt is still there… That “Put The White Back In The White House” saying has been floating on the net for a few years, almost always by people on the left playing up the “all people on the right are racists” shtick…

Thank you for the chuckle.

So these people are deep cover leftists?

I’d call most of those people “trolls”… The internet is full of them…

Really? Hard to tell from this thread.

This thread is full of what both parties like, despite their claims to the contrary, a divided America… Without it, they might have to run on actual merit and their ideas, rather than the “Mitt Romney and the Republicans are going to cut off your grandmother’s social security and then rape her while she’s dying” or “President Obama is going to let hordes of new Mexicans pour across the border and steal your jobs, and probably hit on your wife while you’re standing in the unemployment line” crap that they run on nowadays… But we’re all too happy to let them continue to get away with it, and only get mad about it when it’s election time and they keep playing their stupid divisive commercials…
So yeah, I do feel like it’s entirely possible that the dude wearing that shirt could be a plant, because that’s exactly how both parties run the rest of their campaigns…

I love it when people conveniently ignore documented, openly-admitted racism amongst republicans.

Seriously, we live in a country where if you go to particular states and line up all the republicans, nearly 1/2 will tell you that blacks and whites should not have the legal right to marry.
Or if you lined up every republican in the country and asked them “What religion does President Obama belong to?” nearly 1 in 3 will respond in earnest, “Islam/Muslim.”

Get a grip.

The other side of that “Obama is a Muslim” coin is even if it were true…WHO CARES?
