Putting on your belt, which direction?

Front to back or back to front?

Belt goes NASCAR style as viewed from above.

Me too. If I wear the belt the same way long enough it starts to sag, so I switch periodically. Yeah, I know, OCD.

Me three.

I’m with the majority.

What I want to know is…where are all the left-handed Dopers?

Right handed, start from the left. Don’t know why. Could never switch now. I use to have a belt with a fancy buckle that would have been upside down if I went the other way. I don’t recall ever considering that at the time though.

Right handed, and I have no preference. Some days it’s left to right, some it’s right to left.

Left hander checking in. I start on the right, maybe because I use my left hand to start threading it through?

Men’s and women’s clothings used to open on opposite sides; many still do. Jeans tend to be “man-sided” in any case, but right now I’m wearing a shirt with the right over the left, and every man in sight is wearing shirts with the left over the right. The belt has to go in the way that will make it easier to take off the clothing; thus, a belt I wear with jeans will go in the left, whereas one worn over a camisero (a dress which buttons down the front) or one worn with woman-sided dress slacks will go on the right.

Right handed, and I start it on the left. Because if I did it the other way it would be backwards. My belt looks like it could be put on in either direction, but I tried doing it “backwards” just now and it felt weird, since I always do it the other way. Like trying to drink my coffee with my left hand - I can do it but it feels wrong.

if a person were rotund, then a belt may not tighten at a narrow enough point to be of any useful purpose; suspenders are then needed for upness and the belt act as decoration and a stiffener for the pants top.

also if a person hangs lots of stuff on their belt (not a dress situation) it might not be tightenable enough and suspenders are then needed for upness.

I don’t even think of it as OCD. Why would I want a curved belt?! So yeah, I alternate.
