Which way do your shirts face?

when hanging in your closet, do your shirt fronts face to the left, the right, the front, or the back?

mine all face left

Mine face left too.

left

Mine also face left. Is this simply a result of the fact that I, like the majority of the population, am right-handed? Thinking about it, if I were left-handed, I would hang my shirts so that they all faced to the right.

that’s kinda what I was wondering about…

I figure you’re going to pull the shirt out w/ your dominant hand in a manner that you can see the front of it, so you’d hang it the way that would make this most likely… to the left for righties and to the right for southpaws

I just ran to my room to check, and I discovered that my shirts all seem to face the middle of the closet. This is, the shirts to the left face right, and the shirts to the right face left. (I’m right-handed.)

Left. Until you get to the far left of the closet. If something is hanging past the door on the left, then it faces right (towards someone opening the closet.) We’re talking about a sliding door closet that pretty much runs the length of the bedroom wall.

Hang? Shirts?

To the left (I’m a righty).

Goes for coats, too.

Yes, it’s a left/right handed thing (for most folks, anyway). The natural way to put the shirt on a hanger is to hold the shirt in your dominant hand while holding the hanger in the other hand. Hang it up, and the front of the shirt faces your non-dominant hand.

Mine face left, but i’m also generally left-handed.

Another question to add to the OP:

Do you also make sure, when putting your shirt on the coat hanger, that the hanger part faces the same direction for each shirt?

For example, i always face the open end of the hook to the left before putting the shirt on it. That way, i can put it straight over the rod, rather than putting it under and then bringing it up.

Mine also face to the left (I’m right handed), and yes, I make sure they all go on the hanger the same way.

Left-handed here. My shirts face left.

I can see your logic. Since right-handers do everything the same way, you assume us lefties do everything the same way, but just opposite from you.

Keeping thinking that way. You’ll never what hits you until it’s too late.

Right-handed, my shirts and dresses face left.

I’m left handed, but my shirts face left as well.

Of course, my closet’s on the right side of the room, and when I’m facing the closet, there’s a low bureau to my right, so that’s a factor.

left righty

Hmm…depends which direction you are looking in the closet?

I walk into a long narrow closet, and to my right is the long hanger. I hang all shirts so if someone were wearing them, I would see their right shoulder facing me. I also have this “thing” where all the coat hangera have to be with the hook going in, not out.

Left… but my jackets and suits face right!

I found it somewhat disturbing that I’ve had an unconscious closet-organizing program running and never noticed it.

Right handed, shirts face left, hangers all with open part of the hook facing in.

Left. But I thought it was a holdover from bootcamp.
