Putting The Powers Of The SDMB To The Test

I sure hope you get the house and I shall live vicariously through you. I’d love nothing been than to live in a gorgeous old home. Well, I guess I like living in a gorgeous NEW home, since that’s what I have. But good luck! It’s a beauty.

Behold, the mighty power of the SDMB!

We sign the papers in the morning.

Next up: My “I want to hit the Powerball Jackpot” thread.

Congratulations. Remember to let me know if you need the electrician!

Congratulations!

What the hell does that mean? :smack:

But be that as it may … CONGRATULATIONS, HAL!!

Sometimes the Dope scares me with its powers.

I think I will give up any personals sites, and focus my desire for a meaningful relationship on the SDMB  And single farmer-types in Indiana?

Blast, make that Any single farmer-types.

oy vey.

Congratulations! Wishing you luck and joy in your new home!

Sorry dude, you had your one wish. Now I want a turn - Powerball is mine… :stuck_out_tongue:

CONGRATS!

Now send me some “Get the job” mojo, please.
I have seen the Power of the Dope and believe it can happen.

{You might, just might want to narrow that down to Gender also.}

Good onion, mate! Now, I can dig up Murray The Carpenter.

Congratulations, Lord Briston (what with you being a property Owner and all now). Amazing use of the Powers.

…and deepest sympathies! What with you now owning an ancient firetrap with substandard wiring, dispeptic septic and possessed HVAC . Just think of the stories you’re going to have!
May you never have a collapsed sewer line or squirrels in the attic.

Well, the papers are all signed. Now we just have to wait until Saturday for the home inspection, and if all goes well there, we’re golden. The hope here is that the inspection will either reveal next to no problems, or that the place is about to collapse. If it turns out that there are a few problems that would still wind up costing a decent amount to fix, then I’ll be really torn as to whether we should proceed or not. So, one extreme or the other, please.

But if all goes well, then come June 5th the place will be ours!

Thanks much for all the well-wishes, everyone. And thanks for the hookup, Oy!…if it needs electrical work, you’ll certainly be hearing from me.

That’s a way cool house! Congratulations!

I stand in awe of the power of the 'Dope.

Awwwww…

Now, I hereby summon the powers of the Dope to make me twenty pounds lighter!

Hey, Hal got a house. I wanna fit into my college jeans!

People, people…you have to remember – the power of the SDMB to grant requests only works if you start your own thread! Just putting it into an existing thread don’t cut it. Sorry, I don’t make the rules – that just seems to be the way it works.

Now then, on a very down note that What Exit will appreciate: I was just checking out the cable service for Mount Holly, and made a horrifying discovery – Comcast considers that to be in the greater Philadelphia market, but not the New York market. Meaning that unless we switch to satellite (which I’d rather not do), the only non-prime-time Giants games I’ll be getting will be when they play the Scumbirds. :frowning:

Looks like Sundays will be “visit the in-laws” day.

I’m sorry, you are absolutely NOT allowed to end this thread with a frowny face!

Ha!
Where’s my two dollar gas, pal? :frowning:

You’ll have a welcome at my place most weekends, at least you’ll have some alternatives.
Even with Satellite, would you need an NFL package? I’m not sure how that works.
A little good news, the Giants have 4 national games this year and as you noted 2 against Philly.

Jim

Well, we had the home inspection done yesterday, and for being 146 years old, the place is in pretty fine shape. Woot!

A few things are going to need to be done…a little bit of patchwork here and there, but for the most part, we’re golden. I’ll have to get ahold of Oy!'s buddy, since a portion of the house has very old knob-and-tube wiring, but beyond that we should be good.

It all looks like a go-ahead for the June 5th closing. Woohoo!

Oh yeah…pics of the house and nearby neighborhood (don’t mind the clutter…the sellers are still in the process of moving out).
