Woohoo! Congratulations.
Very nice. The Radiators look either restored or incredibly well cared for. A good sign.
Real Hardwood Floor are always nice.
Did I notice a small porch of the Living Room? That is a great feature.
Jim
Oh, Lord I am envious! Mine is older, but almost none of the original elements have been preserved; not surprising, at it has seen far worse times than yours probably ever did. Yours seems to be a really fine blend of old elements and important upgrades (like the kitchen). I don’t think you’ll end up loving the Victorian bath tub though; I grew up with one, and was thrilled when, late during my teens, my mom had a modern bath with a real shower put in. Didn’t look nearly as charming, but I don’t care about charm nearly as much as functionality when it comes to showers!
Charming yard, nice neighborhood. And the price is impressively good! Mount Holly must be almost as low as Trenton. Looks like you have it made! I’m sure the Briston lamb will grow up happy and healthy in such a house.
BTW, where (geographically) do you work (with the evil co-workers!)? What’s the commute looking like? How about kitten, or is she at home with the little lamb these days?
Am I allowed to post the name and number of an electrician on the board, or does Hal need to write me personally? No problem with the latter, btw, my email is in my profile. Just wondering if it’s policy one way or another…
You certainly did. I’ve updated the site to include the floor plan, and you can see the side porch off the living room (which will be actually be the dining room when we move in – we’re swapping the living room and the dining room).
Oy!, I know what you mean about the tub. Yeah, it’s pretty, but I prefer to be able to take a nice, high-pressure shower. We’ll probably install a 3/4 bath on the first floor in a year or so.
As for work, my company is based in Princeton, but I telecommute, so my office will be one of those third-floor bedrooms. I also leave my computer logged in all the time now. Take that, evil co-workers!
I’ll e-mail you shortly about the electrician…thanks much for the hook-up!
Generous room sizes for a house of that age, too! Very nice indeed, Hal. No wonder you were so eager to get it!
Sweet. A classic Shotgun style house.
And no evidence of demonic possession in the basement, so all you have to worry about is crazy neighbors.
Hal, Congratulations! I, too, have discovered the collective power of the SDMB while my MIL was hospitalized.
Great house. Be sure to check that the plumbing has been updated to copper, we don’t want you going coocoo from lead poisoning. [sub]Well, any more coocoo than you already are. Snerk.[/sub]
- What? No, it’s not! I live there!
- Where near Central Arkansas do you live.
- <groan> Never mind…
