Right this question has been puzzling me for a while:
Why were Starksy and Hutch always going in the wrong direction when they got a call?

I think it was just so they could do the “Starsky and Hutch manuever,” where they spin the car 180 degrees without stopping. It was a trademark of that show. No “real” reason comes to mind.

Well, you’re certainly living up to your name, NCB.
In this particular case, Eggnog started an inflammatory pit thread and along the way admitted “This is [sic] some of the best reactions I have managed to get with this kind of thread.” i.e. the thread was started just to piss people off; it was trolling. Nog’s posting priveleges have been subsequently revoked.
Now, it’s possible it was for some other completely different reason, but this is the most obvious one.
As for Starsky & Hutch, I have no clue, boy.
It means the user has been banned from the boards (despite what it may seem like, the admins do make the interface rather easy to understand). This can occur for various reasons - a quick check in the FAQ might give you a little more detail.
