Hey, how do we contact other wizards on there (other than publicly over the message board thing)? I keep running out of patience, so I don’t have the time to experiment with everything I’d like to. One of the experienced wizards mentioned something about a Contact spell, but I don’t have one of those currently.

There is an Ether spell, that transcends the limitation of mountains and levels, and lets you communicate with others… but I’m not sure what level you have to reach to use it. Contact is a one-to-one thing. Ether creates a “band” that anyone can listen in on.
Next time I’m on, I’ll see if I can’t promote you along a bit – but the key element, if you’ve not done so already, is to get to level 16 and be “sanctified.”

I just got kicked off. No more manna, it said. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I had fun answering the questions. I was wondering where the posts end up when it makes you post.

Well, I have gotten up to level 31. While I’m happy about that, it seems that in order for me to ascend now, the amount of manna it costs me is equal to the level I’m going for (i.e. Level 31 cost me 31 manna points). Now, I don’t mind clicking the banners to get manna, but come on, already! It would take at least three clicks just to get up a level. If any of you higher up wizards are able to promote me, I would be grateful. I know it costs a lot of manna, though, so I won’t be offended if you don’t. How high do I have to be to join the Teeming Millions clan, Rick? Just when I was starting to understand and enjoy the thing, it’s making me mad again.
BTW, someone over there talked about kamikaze. Apparently, it’s a spell to send people downwards, but you lose levels from using it. Anyone have any experience with this yet?
At level 15 you can read the ether. At level 16 you can start to send to the ether as well.
I click on those banner ads, and TSOTL tells me that I will be getting X amount of patience, but he never makes with the points :(.
I finally made it to level 17, then TSOTL got tired of me and kicked me off. So I’ll probably log back on for a bit tonight to try to go up another level or two.
There is a solution to the “climbing cost” problem – the Charge spell, which you’ll get at level 33. Basically, this allows you to attempt to ascend for only a couple of manna - but the downside is that if you get a question wrong, you’re kicked off for a couple of hours.
Also available: the “power climb”. I’m not sure what makes this happen… I suspect it’s having a high esteem before trying… but ascending successfully can give you both the new level and a couple hundred manna, which fund your next ascent… it’s an amazing cycle - I went from 34 to 41 before being stymied by a bizarre question, which in deference to Pyroto’s rules I’ll refrain from posting in public.
I’d like to hear ideas on how we can share questions and answers amongst ourselves. Pyroto’s rules permit sharing, as long as the questions are not published publicly. Unfortunately, I haven’t kept track of the ones I knew. I’ll start doing that now. But how can we share and each contribute to a master list?

Sharing answers here may not violate the rules. This seems public, but I think only Dopers come here. The others on pyroto mountain would probably not be coming here on a regular basis. As an alternative, perhaps we could get a pyroto-dopers website going, with password access only.
Of course, as the dopers grow in importance on the mountain, many would come here looking for our secrets, but at this time, I don’t think any of us are a serious threat to the higher-level wizards.
I’m there on Imaz. I’m really enjoying it. I am easily amused. The spirit thingy keeps losing patience with me and kicking me off the mountain, I never get a chance to run out of Manna. Hope to see some of you there.
BTW, what happened to the banner for the game here at the Dope?
I have room to host the site, provided it doesn’t get too big. But I’m no web designer. If someone else wants to design it and send me the code, I can get us up and running.
I’m not sure of the exact specifications of how much I can put up, but it’s whatever @home offers. I could provide more details tomorrow.
Ok, I get 10 Megs of space on my site, but we can’t even come close to filling it. Why? I only get 300 Megs of downloads per month. So, If we keep it down under a tenth of a meg, there’d be no problem. I’m unsure if that could be done. Perhaps if we just put up a list of mentor questions, nothing else.
