How long does it take from the time you sign up until you receive your password in e-mail? I signed up three days ago and still have not received my password. This morning I signed up again, using a different username and a different e-mail address, and as of 8 p.m., I still have not received a password. What gives?

We can set up a mailing list through onelist.com. The website takes care of all the technical issues. We only need a volunteer to moderate. We can set it up so that it requires the moderater’s permission for someone to join the list. Once we are on, Anybody can send a message to the entire list easily.
If we have no volunteers to moderate in the next 24 hours, I’ll do the job myself.
We could try the “ecircles” approach to sharing information. I have set up an “ecircle” for those that seemed interested (and had e-mail addresses listed.)
You should be getting an invitation via e-mail.
If anyone would like to try out the “ecircle”, and doesn’t get an invitation, e-mail me or post in the thread and I will invite you.
Damn Manna! Well, I just started today. I don’t know what mountain I’m on, but John Larrigan, MadPoet and Atrael are there as well. I got kicked pretty early into it. I think I hit level 8 or 9. I wasn’t aware of the clicking banners to get manna deal. Well, I guess I’ll try again tomorrow. Oh yeah, I am Democritus there as well.
OK, I tried this thing out. I saw several Dopers there (including Demo – I replied to one of his messages). I go by MtnMan there too (seems oddly appropriate in that context).
Eventually I used up all TSOTL’s patience and he booted me. I was visiting a sponsor trying to earn more patience, but was booted by the time I got back. I guess that’s a lesson learned – the clock is still ticking, even when you click on sponsors.
So, here’s my question: Is there more to this “game” than answering trivia questions, reading forced posts and making forced posts?
I keep reading that there are fun things to do on Pyroto Mountain, but frankly, none of those things are terribly fun. I think finding out how things work (patience, esteem, manna) is somewhat intriguing, but I’m not sure I’d say it’s fun.
I’m curious to hear what those of you who have been around for a while think. What do you do that is so fun?
Other than putting their name in the title of a post, is there any way for a person who is at a lower level to contact another player directly?
Demo, I was kicked off for not enough manna at Level 12 and was told to come back in 24 hours, waited about 1/2 hour and tried again and was told I had another three hours. I’m going to try it again in just a bit.

GolfWidow, if you want to join the e-circle, I will need to know an e-mail address. E-mail me, saying “this is GolfWidow, please add me to the ecircle”, and I will put your name on the list.
I did finally manage to get my password yesterday and I played it for a little while. I think I only reached a level six or seven before running out of manna, however.

Build up your esteem by posting messages before you start to climb. Keep your esteem at 130 over your level before you begin to climb. Make sure it stays there.
If you’re serious about playing, e-mail Arnold or post here for an invitation to join our eCircles group, which will give you access to a list of questions and answers, as well as the resources to ask questions about the game and get answers… which, I suppose, you could do here too, but it’s easier to keep everything in one place.
When you go to Pyroto, wait for the SDMB banner to come up, and enter from there. This gives the Chicago Reader “click-through” points.
I tried to migrate and needed 615 manna, too! NO WAY! I can barely get 50…and it seems I spend most of my time clicking bannas…hmmm…maybe that’s the whole point?
y’know, maybe the manna cost is rather prohibitive. And, perhaps it would be to our advantage to have a few friends on the other mountains. We CAN all access the same Ether channel…
I’m on Pyroto Mtn… not sure what the advantage is, but I’m sticking here for now.
Did we come to a conclusion on making a page? It would be no trouble to whip up a perl script and make a password protected page that memebers could update. Or I could maintain it by hand if people just want to send me lists of answers.
If there’s any interest I’ll start working on it. My answers are at home, but I’ve got a few here to start with.
Bricker has a page up…I found it. I have some answers you don’t have up, do you want me to email them to you? Some are the easy ones, but some (I think) are harder.
If you deperately need manna orlevels to migrate, (although it may be a good idea to keep some insiders on the other mountains), contact me or bricker and we’ll see what we can do for you…
As for any questions, e-mail them to me or bricker and we’ll get them on the list.
Cheers.

I just signed up today, and I really enjoyed my time on the mountain.I haven’t figured out everything yet, but it seems pretty fun.
I would like to participate in the Ecircles thing, if you will have me. mskeene@hotmail.com
