q. about Freddy Krueger

I understand that the backstory is that incontrovertible proof of his guilt was uncovered, but that for some reason he could not be charged or tried. Did they ever say exactly why?

My recollection was they hand waved it by saying he got off on a “technicality” without more detail than that but it has been a long time since I have seen it.

Someone forgot to sign the search warrant in the right place, according to his Wikipedia page.

(It’s been a little while since I’ve seen it, too.)

I remember that they said he got off on a technicality; I didn’t remember what ekedolphin found.

How many of y’all know that there’s a song about Freddy too? Stormtroopers Of Death - Freddy Kreuger has been a favorite of mine for over 30 years now.

But you don’t have to worry now because he’s dead;mommy killed him.

Yep. Keep reassuring yourself tonight . . . as you are falling asleep.

He was innocent!!!
Obligatory Robot Chicken reference

“Well all the lawyers got fat and the Judge got famous, but someone forgot to sign the search warrant in the right place and Krueger was free just like that.” – Nancy’s mom

In the 1st episode of Freddy’s Nightmares, which served as a prequel to the movie, the judge throws out the case because the evidence presented was “obtained during an illegal arrest”.

So what WOULD the authorities do in a case like that?

The song that reminds me most of Freddy is Dream Weaver by Gary Wright.

I just read the Wikipedia page, and apparently the song was one of Wes Craven’s inspirations .

Build a second floor on the police station so Krueger could “accidentally” fall down the stairs?

I always thought Twisted Sister’s “Street Justice” followed the plot of ANOES eerily well…

[STREET JUSTICE]

It happened in the broad daylight
So unexpected came the knife
A child’s scream sliced through the air
But no one came or seemed to care, no

The man’s description did little good
A local stranger from the neighborhood
Those little kids, oh, he left behind
With their mangled lives and their tortured minds
Since he didn’t seem to care, then don’t you think it’s only fair

The man was caught and brought before a judge
Who had just returned from a three drink lunch
His lawyer screamed “you must set him free”
And off he went on a technicality
Since the law don’t seem to care, then don’t you think it’s only fair

The mob assembled, smoke filled the air
And marched in anger to do what’s fair
To bring to justice this soulless thing
And show the others what evil brings
Now before you shake your head, think if it was your child instead

The defense attorney bribed the judge with gold coins and after the dismissal, Kreuger ran.

…bravo.

Never mind, I got the joke 30 minutes later… :smack:
