Yes, I know. Ask my doctor. But I won’t get a hold of her until monday at the earliest, and was curious if anyone had similar experiences.
I have had wicked, wicked food poisoning. Of the ‘both ends’ variety. I have not consumed much fat or protien (or anything really more solid than bananas) in two weeks. I was so dehydrated I needed at IV last week. For a full week I had nothing but liquids. I’ve lost about 11 pounds.
I’m at the end of my second patch week, and I’ve been spotting the past two days. Today it’s a little more pronounced. Anyone know if this is because of being sick messing up the hormones (or, say, the phenegren I was taking)? I’m trying to acertain if this is normal, or if this is a sign of something urgent-care serious. I know being sick messes up the pill, but everything I’ve read it’s not like that with the patch.
Probably worth at least a call to the pharmacist. And I hope you are feeling better soon.
I am not a doctor but if you have been that sick for two weeks, I am going to venture a guess and say it wasn’t food poisoning. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me but I don’t think food poisoning lasts that long. It sounds like your illness correlates with your patch use. Your medication could be causing an interaction with the hormones in the patch or you could be having an adverse reaction to the hormones. My suggestion, and once again IANAD, is to remove the patch and see your doctor as soon as possible. Make sure you use back up birth control if neccesary. Removing the patch should make you start your period in a day or two but it is a small price to pay if it helps you decide that you need to change birth control methods. Good Luck.
