Is there any place on the Big Island that sells model rocket engines?
Long story, but I’m leading a group of kids to Hawaii this summer. One of the activities I’d like to do is model rocketry. Getting them on the plane is obviously out of the question. If no one knows of a shop in Hawai’i that sells them, I suppose I could order them online and have them shipped where we’re staying.
If this is the only time you’ll have to interact with these kids, and model rocketry is something you absolutely have to show them, then you can check out the Estes site, which has a retail store finder. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend doing things that you can only do on the Big Island, like see the lava flows, head up to the observatory, check out a heiau, see the railroad museum, find the tsunami memorial, snorkel, etc. Model rockets are fun, but you can do them here if you’ve got that group of kids around before you leave or when you get back.
Yes, it’s a science expedition, and rocketry is part of it. This is the only time we’ll be with this group…all the other things you mentioned are part of the agenda too.
