Queens man thrown out of Yankee game for going to the bathroom. (RO)

Story here.

A Queens man was thrown out of a baseball game in the Bronx for trying to head to the restroom during the seventh-inning stretch. The Yankees play “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch, & this poor guy made the mistake of telling a cop who accosted him, “I don’t care about ‘God Bless America.’”

I didn’t see a comments page on yahoo news, so I inflict it on you.

My immediate thought: Of course they threw him out! He’s from Queens! The Yankees are for people from the City, right?

The Mets should capitalize on this. “We love our country too, but if you have to take a leak, you won’t have to do it in the seat!”

Hope he sues the Yankees out of a position player, a bullpen pitcher and a player to be named later. I wouldn’t have been as calm as he was. I’d have lawyers suing the Yankees as of 10am this morning, for millions. This kind of shit has to stop.

That’s stupid. I’m a Yankees fan, but I wouldn’t want to see someone attending a game soil themselves because a song was playing. So what if the guy said he doesn’t care about the song? That’s his right. If he was drunk and disorderly, then that’s another matter.

Did any of you watch the video all the way through? If not, I’ll remind you that there are two sides to every story.

How did he get a picture of the cops inside the stadium? Am I missing something?

I can’t see the video from here. What is the second side, briefly?

Cell phone camera, I’m guessing, based on the somewhat poor image quality.

From another source:

This same quote is given towards the end of the video linked in the OP.

The police are saying that he was drunk and disorderly, and removed him with cause.

I suppose it could be true, but it seems pretty pat to me. I don’t buy it.

Jeez, if you can’t trust a New York cop, who can you trust?

I watched it all the way through. Weren’t there 2 witnesses who said he was not drunk and disorderly?

One. Who was, apparently, at the game with Campeau-Laurion.

Thanks.

There was him and the friend he was with. I don’t know if he was or if he wasn’t, but everybody seems to be saying just about what you’d expect them to.

Someone’s lying, it’ll be interesting when some other spectators start coming forward.

The truth is probably somewhere in between. Guy with a couple beers in him, desperate to piss, trying to get the restroom, which he probably expects has a line, could be a little crabby. The cop blows this up into him standing on the seat insulting the whole country & cursing NYC.

Yep, pretty much. I don’t know who’s telling the truth here–probably nobody; these things always seem to wind up somewhere towards the center of mass of the pile of bullshit. I’d prefer to forgo the RO and wait for more details, at this point.

Since when does being an asshole get you thrown out of Yankee Stadium? If that were the only criteria there would only be about 5 people there to watch the game, and all of them would be from out of town.

Could be a typo. Maybe it was orignally supposed to read, “Man thrown out of Yankee stadium for not being an asshole.”
