Queer Eye 12/9 - Ross M

Good heavens, could Jai actually have something to do tonight? That bit about movies without a military theme leads me to believe. Unfortunately it’ll probably be more shots of Jai picking out CDs and DVDs, maybe handing over a gift certificate to the local video store. Looking forward to Carson injecting some outlandish pieces into the guy’s wardrode while still maintaining what will probably be a pretty conservative overall feel. With my sweet sweet Kyan teaching him to shave (with demo please!), Ted expanding his food horizons and Thom let loose on the “office,” in fact it looks like everyone will have something to do. How will they fit it all in between the “don’t ask don’t tell” jokes?

<bump>

90 or so minutes…

Kyan seems to have some serious PMS in this show. By now he should know that straight guys don’t have moisturizer, etc.

Carson did great on clothes, mothing outlandish, great work clothes. Though the watch cap and black jacket had me doing lines from “The Usual Suspects”

Whistlepig

Thom was a master, as always. But Carson really shined this week. Military-inspired fashions? Who knew?

Awesome! (Heh, heh)

Two Best Lines (both from Carson): “Rimming makes me rise” and “My mother said only children and whores wear red shoes.”
Ross, the hetero du jour, was yummy–what a pity we didn’t get an overhead butt shot in the shower! Carson didn’t dress him like a circus clown for a change, and Thom outdid himself in the decor.
Ross bollixed up the souffle a bit, but his woman didn’t seem to mind.

My favorite exchange tonight was this from the push-up contest:

Straight guy (to Kyan): Bring it on, pretty boy!
Jai (to Kyan): Are you gonna take that from him?
Kyan (preening): Yes, yes I am.

Oh, and Thom’s “Pucker up, baby!”

The watch cap outfit didn’t do a whole lot for me, I thought the guy looked kinda “thuggy” dressed that way. I really liked some of the other clothes a lot, though. Bear in mind that I am a straight lady, so my insight on what looks good on guys is from that perspective - the “thug” look is one I KNOW would appeal to several gay guys I know. Generally, Carson’s pretty good about toning down his own taste for the fashion-impaired, but in every show there’s usually one outfit that makes me think he’s dressing the guy for other guys, rather than for women.

Although the banter is cattier and more fun when the straight guy is hesitant or flat-out resistant, I do enjoy watching some of the more recent shows where the guy really gets into the whole idea.

“Leave him alone! He’s garnishing!”

Heh.

Great episode- lots of fun, breezy pacing. Everyone was having fun.

Mmmm Crate and Barrel!

Next week looks to me really interesting.

Anyone have any scoop on the music video? I assume it’s for the intro song (ala Friends).

For once, I was underwhelmed by Thom’s decorating. What the hell was the big Splash-o-Crap painting he threw together for the living room?!

The straighties were an adorable couple, though.

This episode was AAWWWWESOME!

“Guys, I put in a clear shower curtain!” Naughty Thom!

This was the best ep in recent weeks. I liked that Ross recognized that he needed help and reached out as a surprise for the GF and that she was included in the process of choosing the furniture, the dance lessons, and so on. I wasn’t overwhelmed by Thom’s painting but other than that the decor was good. The clothes were great. I didn’t care for the watch cap but the coat it was worn with was terrific. I loved the collar on it.

Alas it’s true, no overhead butt shot of Ross but we got an almost-butt shot of my sweet sweet Kyan during the pushup contest when they were hauling him up by his pants. Then Carson stuck his damn big head into the shot!

From the Widelife website:

Damn—they were shooting in NY that weekend? I could have heckled them from the sidelines?

This was a pretty funny one as well. I like how they’re trying to involve the wife/GF/SO/etc. as opposed to kicking her out for the four days.

I cracked up at the shot of the Fab Five crammed into that tiny elevator. That’s classic!

Did anyone else think that dermatologist had the scariest eyes?

Poor Ross looked totally lost while Ted was showing him how to make the souffle. I was sure he’d screw it up and give the guys comic fodder, but he performed admirably. Then I noticed he was working from printed directions. Must be that military training kicking in.

Lastly, I’m hardly one to comment on another’s dancing abilities, but I got the sense that they had precious few moves and exhausted their repertoire by the time they left the floor.

Ross = Will Farrell look-alike?

Not much to add since the “rimming” line and lack of buttshots for Kyan and or Ross have been addressed, but I think that this is interesting: Carson is the celeb (such as it is) whose endorsement would most influence the people polled.

See, as a straight lady, I found this episode a bit boring–although Ross was cute and the Fab Five is always fun. I want a return of the slobs! I want to see guys getting their eyebrows waxed or a whole body mud-bath (they are so very uncomfortable with this stuff). I want a construction worker getting a manicure, a sallow-skinned bookstore clerk with dorky glasses given a tan and contacts, a butcher cooking a vegetarian meal. I want to see the guy that makes me go “yuck” at the beginning of the show turn into a “yum” by the end of the show.

Still, I am looking forward to the reunion show next week.

My favorite part of this show is when Otto’s sweet Kyan[sup]tm[/sup] fondles the guy’s hair. I love it! He has to play with hair, even if the guy doesn’t get a haircut. It should be a drinking game.

Art’s a funny thing. I really liked the painting, and I tend not like alot of art. Something about the color and the composition seemed to work, especially in that space. But, that’s just me.

I LOVE QE4TSG! (You all have said everything I could have possibly wanted to say about the show so I’m left with shouting my admiration from the corner!) CARSON ROCKS! Much love…

Namaste. Yogini

Welcome Yogini.
