First, I’m an idiot. I lost my user’s manual and I can’t find the answer to this online.
How do you set the clock on a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera? The starter was replaced this week and it looks like they disconnected the battery from the electronics to do it…the clock is wrong, the radio presets are off from what they were, etc.
Now I need to reset the clock…does anyone have any idea how I do that on this car? Thanks in advance.
Part of the radio…the clock display and the radio channel indicator share an LCD strip.
There are five rectangular preset buttons and a smaller square “set” button. I use this to set the preset buttons to certain stations. I vaguely remember that it has something to do with setting the clock, as well, but don’t remember how to use it for that. I’ve tried holding it down for several seconds, but nothing happens to indicate that I can now set the clock.
Radios I’ve had like this require that you turn off the radio in order to set the clock. Have you tried that? Usually it’s turn off radio, press and hold “set” until something starts blinking, then turn knobs or press buttons until the blinking thing starts changing.
My vague recollection of an ex-gf’s car – hit the ‘set’ button then hold ‘scan’ until the hour starts changing, press ‘seek’ for the minutes (should be the same as setting the preset buttons just hold ‘scan’ instead of ‘preset #’ ).
If that doesn’t work, try searching or asking the automotive forums.
Having owned GM cars of that vintage, I remember the procedure. Put the ignition on and turn the radio off. Hold the Set button in, and press the Scan and Seek buttons to cycle hours and minutes (I forget which is which, but you’ll see quickly). When the time is right, let go of the buttons and you’re on your way.
