So my throat and tongue have been bothering me all week, so I decided to pay up and to see a doctor, as I don’t have insurance. I thought it might be strep because of two little white dots on the back of my throat and it was painful.
When I got to the Hospital the nurse took my temp and it was a bit high (99.7). After a bit of waiting I got swabbed and the test for strep came back negative. The nurse said that it might be aphthous stomatitis, otherwise known as canker sores. I have had canker sores on my inner cheeks, but never on the back of my throat. Anyhow I got some antibiotics, chloreseptic and some Peroxyl mouth wash to gargle with, but the last day or so it has seemingly gotten worse. The two little white spots grew into one bigger one and now my ear occasionally hurts.
What I am curious about is if this is common? How often do people get canker sores on the back of the throat that merge into one, and how often does it cause the lymph gland on that side of the neck to swell and cause the ear to hurt? (I have had an ear infection once, feels sort of similar).
Never fear though, if this malady is no better this time next week, it will be off to the doctor once again. If it is something very serious I am afraid I will have to just let it kill me though. I don’t have health insurance, and will not drop out of school. I would rather die.
