Question about backing on persian-style rugs

I have what seems to be a very nice quality persian-style rug. It has a woven cloth backing on it with finished edges. There is one little tear in the backing that shows what appears to be dried cement-like glue, which I would guess is what adheres the rug to the backing. I just rolled it up for storage, and notice that there is an area where the backing seems to have come away from the rug. Should I be worried about this? The front of the rug in that area looks fine, but I don’t know if this is the type of thing that would need to be repaired—and aside from removing the backing and re-sealing a new backing onto it, I don’t know how that could happen anyway. I have a feeling this area is where the rug was spot-cleaned once, and perhaps moisture loosened the glue.

I’ve looked around online, and am not finding info that answers my question. Anybody around here know anything about rugs/rug manufacturing/rug repair that could enlighten me?
