Question about Celebrity Death Pool thread

Not that I’m complaining about the Death Pool thread, mind you – I’m actually trying to put together a list myself so I can join in the fun. I’m just curious how a thread like this doesn’t get shut down in light of the Board policy of “not wishing death on anyone”. After all, you’re essentially wishing that everyone on your list dies within the next year, right? Is it because it’s all in fun, not in anger?

I Am Not A Mod, but I think it’s because it’s just a game. One of the rules states that if you in any way contribute to the death of anyone on your list, you are immediately disqualified (unless you are a police officer or military person and it’s in the line of duty).

Og damn, I love this board.

Plus, I don’t think anyone really wishes their celebs would die (well, depends on who the celeb is, I guess). I know that I was sad to have been right about Pat Morita. I predicted his death, but I certainly wasn’t hoping for it to actually happen.

I’d say it’s because there’s a difference between a “death wish” that might be taken as threatening and is certainly impolite, and a game that has some (slightly sick) amusement.
