Question about iPad capabilities - finger-writing and video-taking

My fiancee and I are brainstorming on whether we might be able to use an iPad (which we do not own, and have only minimal experience with) to function as a sort of video guestbook at our wedding.

What we’d most like to do is to let people sign in (with their finger or a stylus), and secondarily we’d like them to be able to leave video greetings.

Does the iPad have the capability to do both of these things without additional software? I’ve found a couple of apps which can be had, but I was under the impression that the basic functionality of the thing might suffice.

Anyone with an iPad or lots of iPad experience care to clue me in?

There are no built-in apps for the signature thing, but there are plenty of apps that would more-or-less support it. The signer might have to scroll the screen themself, though, otherwise they might be signing over someone else’s signature.

Video recording is built in, but again, they would have to know what buttons to press to start/stop recording. You might have to have a host to keep the iPad in order.

And that thing is going to fill up really fast, you would have to get the biggest one they have.

Someone to wrangle the iPad itself is already in the plan, we don’t intend to just pass it around.

Didn’t think about storage space, though. We can take Mrs. Knead-to-be’s MacBook with us and offload periodically, I guess.

You’d be better off using the MacBook to record the videos. Better camera and no waiting to offload the videos.

Worth considering. Maybe we’ll put the iPad in front of it and let them sign and greet at the same time.
