If one were to get the windshield of their car replaced, what would they do about their inspection/registration stickers?
scrap it off as careful as they can and tape it on. of course afterwards you can always go to the DMV and get a new one.
In Massachusetts, glass places now have special replacement stickers for this situation. Formerly they would stick the old one back on but tell you to go to the Registry of Motor Vehicles to get a new sticker.
I’ve had my windshield replaced twice:
-
When I went to a glass place, they just put it back on. No warnings or nothing.
-
When I went to a body shop, they gave me a blank windshield. It was my problem to fix. I just went down to the DMV, said what I needed, and the guy came out and put one on (for free). Note that this was at the DMV, not the inspection station.
In PA, only inspection stations can issue stickers. We would carefully tape up the corner of the removed windshield along with the inspection sticker and place that behind the new glass.
I just had this done in Virginia, and they moved the inspection and car tax sticker to the new windshield. No problems at all.
