Lately I’ve been having trouble with my Media Player. Whenever I try to burn a CD it spits it out before it’s done. It never did this before. It doesn’t seem to matter what error message I get - if I try to find out what it means on the Windows Media help page it doesn’t seem to have that particular error message - it’s driving me batty!!! Tonight it said, “The operation could not be performed because the filter is in the wrong state.” I didn’t even know there was a filter…grrrr.
Ah well, any responses would be much appreciated! Oh, and please keep in mind that I’m a recently reformed technophobe. Computer lingo might as well be Sanskrit to me…Speak to me as though I’m Forest Gump, ok? lol (Um, nothing against Forest Gump you understand…)
This isn’t much help on your problem but, have you thought of using a different program to burn cds? Windows Media Player is pretty crappy and there are many better choices. My cd burner came with nero which has been good to me. For free burner programs you can google for it or I’m sure someone else will come along with a good suggestion.
Thanks cletus …I have heard other people say that as well. I do have “Real One Player”. I’ve never really used it before, but I think I may try it now because I really want to make my sister a CD for her birthday!
If there is a problem just at the final stage of the write, auto-insert notification could be a problem. The OS detects a CD in the drive and does an access, interfering with the write.
I turn off auto-insert notification on all CD drives since it causes just too many headaches such as this. Hence I have noticed that it gets turned back on by the OS whenever a piddly little change is made regarding my CD setup. Ack, phhht.
