Lisbeth got a pretty huge inheritance, which Bjorman was handing to her very ungenerously. Where did the money come from? It couldn’t have been her father – he didn’t seem like the giving type. Her mother didn’t seem like the wealthy type. So whose money was it originally?
Her mother only left her a small inheritance. The money the sleezy advocate was handing out (with some nasty catches) was her regular salary from the security firm. She didn’t get the huge money until the end of the first book/movie, and after she’d taken care of the advocate, when she hacked into that billionaire’s offshore accounts and transferred money to herself (under assumed names). She’s set for life.
(I’m at work with no time to look up names, sorry)
In the second movie, the sleazy advocate still controls all her money.
Except for the huge amount she stole, which nobody but Blomkvist knows about.
Nope. He is still the guardian, but Lisbeth is now indepedently wealthy from her hackery - money far beyond his reach (and she’s blackmailing/terrorizing him to boot).
I’m home now.
Yes, I’ve seen the movie and you’re right, until, certain situations, shall we say, occur, he still controls her money, the small amount she inherited from her mother. That’s all he knows about, the previous salary and the small inheritance (I’m reading the 2nd book now and just looked it up, 9,312 kroner is what she inherited). He has no idea about the other money, and unless the book is different from the movie (I’m only a quarter of the way through, when Mimmi first moves in to Lisbeth’s old apartment, when Nils is still a factor in her life) he doesn’t find out about it before he…
gets snuffed.
I just did a conversion and the amount she inherited from her mother comes to $1,264.36.
