Question about using Tab Groups in Chrome.

I have five weather related tabs that I added to a tab group called “Weather”. The five tabs are still on the tab bar along with an extra tab called Weather. Didn’t reduce clutter like articles I have read said. Now, if my five tabs “collapsed” inside the Weather tab and I could “expand” them or somehow select them individually from the Weather tab I could see that being useful while reducing clutter. Am I doing something wrong?

You’re not doing anything wrong. Chrome group tabs doesn’t consolidate several tabs into one tab. It just group them together so they’re easier to find and handle as one set.

It’s still a work in progress so Google may add this function you’re looking for.

I guess it saves you from dragging them together on the tab bar. Minus the extra tab. I’m not seeing the point. Maybe if you had a 100 tabs open and wanted to save a few. OK… it’s a work in progress.

I have several yellow folders in my Google Chrome favorites bar with tabs inside those folders.

So in your case a folder called “Weather” would have several tabs to various web pages inside of it.

To get a tab into a folder just drag and drop it onto the folder, so when you click on the folder all the tabs inside that folder will be displayed.

Try the OneTab extension. You can neatly keep grouped links to all your most used sites in one tab. Uses virtually no memory.

Just to clarify my previous post.
The folder option comes with Google Chrome, you don’t need an additional program.

I tried One Tab on my Android phone.

Don’t see an icon in Chrome or anything in the menu.

Apparently doesn’t work.
