If it’s just one particular church that’s the worst offender, then answering the door in just your undies usually works wonders. I live exactly two houses down from a major fundamentalist evangelical church, and used to get missionaries from them regularly (because of course I’d never, ever notice their huge church on my way to and from my daily excursions). I finally sent the pastor a registered letter, and started opening the door without bothering to get dressed first. This method works best if you habitually lounge about your place in your undies.
For random missionaries/door-to-door salesmen, I suspect that heads on stakes would be the best bet, as the answering the door in your undies method requires word of mouth to work. We’ll get started on burning spammers, and you can have at least half of the heads, to use as you please. We just banned a whole IP family of spammers, and they’re in China. Is your visa up to date?
Amusing though this digression is, and much though I hate to be a spoil-sport, let’s please keep this thread focused on Xan’s suspension. He was NOT accused of spamming, so this delightful little side excursion is not relevant (and I don’t want anyone reading quickly to make the erroneous connection and mistakenly think that Xan was somehow a spammer.)
