Question for a story I'm writing.

It’s 1969. I’m a girl, alone, in a smallish town in middle America and I need a place to sleep for the night.

Would a motel be my only choice? What else would there be and what would I pay for it. I want somewhere clean, but inexpensive.

How much do you think I’d pay for a cheap motel room, or whatever you think I should choose? $10? $15? Remember, it’s 1969.

Do you mean an underage girl, or a young woman? In a small town in 1969, you should be able to get a motel room for ten bucks. Otherwise, you might look for a YWCA.

The girl in question is seventeen. And $10 works well in the context of the story.
