Hello everyone. I’m new here to the SD message boards, but I’ve been checking out Cecil’s articles for a while. Anyways, I am trying to find the “Steamboat Willie” and/or “Flowers and Trees” videos or video clips by Walt Disney. Someone from snope’s message board suggested you might know where to go. Can anyone here help me?
You might want to try e-mailing Euty.
Sadly, Disney (at least until very recently) has shown very little interest in putting the short subjects on video. They used to have a fairly extensive selection, but almost all are now out of print. “Steamboat Willie” is available in a lightly edited edition on a video called “The Spirit of Mickey.” (The only edits are the opening and closing titles and a brief sequence which was cut by Disney himself back in the 50’s.) “Flowers and Trees” is currently completely unavailable. Both, however, are still shown in regular rotation on a Disney Channel show entitled “The Ink and Paint Club” which airs every morning at 5:00 EST. You can find more info on each of these at my almost now defunct website The Encyclopedia of Disney Animated Shorts.
Just out of curiosity, who at Snopes sent you over to me? I’m not sure I know anybody over there.
Okay, I should have been more specific. Do you know where you cna find it ONLINE? I checked all over the placed and can’t seem to find it. And Tengu sent me here.
I’m fairly sure you won’t find the complete shorts online. I have a few short clips on the old site, but that’s about it.
Welcome to the SDMB, IrateDwarf! I knew I recognized that name from somewhere.
Snopes is my other favorite site. I practically lived there but recently began having trouble getting the pages to load. Hope you like it here, as well. It’s really great.
Hey Silky! Glad to see a familiar face around here.
Oh, well. Too bad it didn’t work out.
(Hi, Euty…hope you don’t mind the referral…)
