Question for FriendofGod

I have played D&D since 7th grade. I think that the game is harmless everyone I know who play the game are very good people and are quite moral. Let me hit on some of the finer points here.

This is something that I have always wondered about. I think you are trying to say here that god and Satan are always writing books and making games to win us over to there side. As it was discussed in the “what would it take to prove gods existence” to you thread all god would have to do is give out some tangible evidence like appearing at my door step and saying hi. So why dose he keep writing books and music, Besides I thought that D&D was made up by Gary Gygax.

Oh yay more rules. I guess this means that I will have to buy more books and spend more money.

How do you tell the difference between prophets ant those who are out to make some money?

I have always thought that it is a good idea to get the real facts because some sources may be biased so I would like to offer these links to any one to read about D&D.

Not enough, dammit. Should I have stuck with it?

well, had you, no doubt you’d be the intellectual equivalent of a baked potato

Well, okay, guys, maybe none of the SDMB atheists has actually gotten up on a soapbox, waved a flag, and shouted, “Hey, everybody, here’s the Truth over here!” But you have to admit that in some of the Christianity vs. atheism threads, some of the atheists do seem a little, shall we say, “strident”? “Pushy”? “Awfully seriously convinced that they are RIGHT and those poor deluded Christians are WRONG?” It’s my observation that none of the GD threads get more just plain anger in them than the God vs. not-God debates, and the anger isn’t always on the side of the God people.

And my post to Mars Horizon was mainly, as I said, to make sure this didn’t turn into just another Fundie-bashing thread.

I think the criticism goes more to the Fundamentalist line of argument in any discussion, which is, “God said it, I believe it, and that settles it.”

If atheists are pushy, well, I have never had a band of atheists knock on my door and preach to me. I have never had an atheist try to drag me to an atheists meeting.

There are strong, fervent Christians like Triskadecamus and Polycarp who will get a respectful hearing in a debate becuae they are well-mannered, respectful, and forceful without being confrontational. They also write intelligent and logical posts. A great many of the Fundies employ poor reasoning or appeals to authority, which makes their arguments look really specious.
