Question for Republicans: If Trump wins the Nomination...

Again, the numbers of Trump were a lie, and the ones that gave this number are also not telling you the whole truth. Get better guys to follow, and better sources. The closest number to 40% was the number of people dying at the hands of the police.

No it’s not. It’s about 16% or so. See here and here.

Now’s your chance to show your decency.

40% was based on the quote in Gigo’s post stating that the correct stat would be about half of Trump’s 81%.

I’m old and white; how could I possibly have any decency?

Indeed, and one should not forget that the number from Trump was 81%. It will be interesting to find where inscrutable got that 40%, it is almost like if the Trump followers are on the bargaining phase of grief.

On edit: Oh, I see, he got it from an speculation and not the FBI, that figures. The point stands, the “original” number came from a racist source and Trump is not apologizing for tweeting racist bait. As one can see his followers are being misled and the only issue here is why his followers get upset with the ones that are correcting a misstatement rather than getting angry at the one that is misleading them.

Yes, but I voted against Huckabee in the Republican Gubernatorial primary.
Didn’t work. :frowning:

From Politifact quoted by you in your earlier post:

“Trump’s number is about double the most accurate figures we could find. That makes him about 100 percent off.”

What if I want to see the best possible candidates on both sides in the general election? Because I am a patriot and the country is better served that way. Perhaps I haven’t even decided which way to vote in the general. Should I not vote for a preferable candidate in whichever primary has the most action or most leverage?

Scotsman, anyone?

Really? Did you really state that someone who is known for not apologizing can, therefore, say anything he wants and shrug off any other accusations?

A wall of unverifiable bullshit does not make it less shit, but maybe more bull. The only thing you prove with this post is your own ridiculousness and dishonesty. If I may be honest, believing everyone should have equal opportunities in life is not “my way or the highway”, it’s common sense.

No, only that if Trump was racist it would have been known before he began his political campaign. He is a public figure with nearly 100% name recognition and he runs a lot of businesses that employ people. If he was racist there would be a history of lawsuits and complaints.

There is surely a difference in behavior in making money and wanting to be elected.

Trump actually thinks he’s going to win minority voters over. That is not a dream a racist man holds on to.

That is just fuckin’ stupid. Did you hear about that NBA owner before he made his racist comments to his girlfriend (and a hidden microphone) a couple of years back. Did you hear about the manager of … was it the Dodgers? some years ago being racist before he made his comments in front of a live mike about no blacks being qualified to manage baseball teams? Did you hear about Jimmy the Greek being a racist before he made public comments about blacks being bred for physical stamina and that being why black athletes are better today?

The world is full of rich and powerful people who are racists and bigots but smart enough to keep these opinions to themselves in front of live mikes. Likewise the world is full of poor and weak people who are bigots and racists who will state their views publicly almost anytime and anywhere. The difference is nobody gives much of a shit about what the poor bigots say.

I’ll grant that it’s possible he doesn’t understand how bigoted and offensive his comments are, though it seems unlikely when now even major Republicans are telling him so. And I’ll grant that it’s even possible he’s not a bigot but he’s deliberately saying this shit to appeal to bigots. Either one makes him unfit to be president.

:dubious:

Knowing that one of the most common words coming from people that were caught doing or saying racist things is “some of my friends are black” this is not so weird. Racists do think that even the targets of racism will always love the bosses, like that NBA owner.

Before Frederick Douglas escaped his masters, the plantation owner caught his wife teaching reading to Douglas while he was a little servant in their home. The owner sternly told the wife to not do that as he warned that if a slave were to read, he would learn enough to want to be free.** Douglas reported that he was present when the owner gave that verdict**. So much was the contempt plantation owners had of the blacks people, that the owners were confident that a black kid was like a pet that was expected to not understand what was being talked about them, after all according to them black people were not much human to be capable to realize what was best for them.

It has been said that history does not really repeat itself but it rimes, in this case Trump has that attitude that the minorities will continue to love the “master” too. Thinking that joining Arapio to the hip or defending a racist tweet can be said to the “little” people with no repercussions. And even though in reality most minorities would like to flee from the likes of them. Or to join forces with the [del]Union[/del] Democrats to defeat the either tone deaf/incompetent or racist.

Ok. Thanks again.

Hmm…that was a more polite answer than I expected. So in return I’ll just say, “You’re welcome!”

You mean something like this?

Just a second there! Not renting to black people might have simply been a shrewd business decision! And as Calvin Coolidge said, the business of America is business.
