Question for 'X-Men' readers / fans

I love X-Men, but I’m confused a little–can anyone help me?

In the movie, when Stryker’s troops storm the school, we see a little girl screaming until one of the soldiers shoots her. According to all sources I could find she’s Siryn, the daughter of Banshee.

OK, cool, I’m guessing Banshee and Siryn’s powers are pretty similar, makes sense.

But…

If Nightcrawler is Mystique’s son, how come he isn’t a shapeshifter like his mother? He’s a teleporter, he has a tail–the only thing they seem to have in common is their blue skin!
Sorry if this is a stupid question… :o

:o :o :o

I have a sinking feeling this is supposed to go in Cafe Society…

:smack:

You would have gotten a faster response if you’d posted in Cafe Society. To answer your question though, mutants powers are dependent on the parents, in fact some mutants pop up from normal parents. For instance Scott/Cyclops has a brother who’s a mutant as well but instead of having optic beams, have I think sonic blasts that originate from his hands. Also Scott/Cyclops fathered a mutant who also has different powers, who’s name I can’t recall.

I’m almost sure that nightcrawler’s parentage was an after thought that occurred with the X-Man cartoon series of the nineties, but I could be wrong on that score.

Makes sense. Thanks!

Sorry, Modmen!

I believe that in the comics, Nightcrawler’s father was a demon. This explains his appearance.

A demon? Cool.

Where can I find the issues explaining Nightcrawler’s background? curious

Not exactly what you’re looking for but this should help: http://www.uncannyxmen.net/
