That may be the case in the US. I’m pretty sure they are still quite common in Canada.

We’ve always called those “ATM cards.” They work in ATMs only. I have one of those in addition to having a debit card and a couple of credit cards.
Yeah, I’ve always called those “ATM cards”, too. Debit cards (or check cards) draw directly from your bank account, use a PIN, and can be used at an ATM, online or in stores. Debit/credit cards can be used like debit cards (using your PIN) or like credit cards (signing for the purchase) but draw from your bank account either way.
