Hello, I signed up with a guest account some time ago and have regularly lurked and read since then. After reading another topic, I thought I’d try logging in, and lo and behold, I can post.
In case this wasn’t supposed to happen, I thought I’d do the right thing and let y’all know.

Yep, we can post. Man, it’s been a long time…
Hi everyone! Let’s test this out.

Testing ability to post. Man it’s been too long.
OK, now back to lurking (where I’m really more comfortable anyway).
How nice, a sub forum for non-subscribers.
Since I can’t search, who was it that requested the pie?
All pie deliveries have to be approved by the mods. It’s a safety regulation. So if you’ll just pass any pie my way, that’ll be great.
Hmmmm, still a guest and cannot seem to edit. When I have a day to spend, I will go re-read the stickies.

Yup, that’s supposed to happen. The new business model is that everyone can use the board, but you can pay to not have to see ads.
Lurking brought a different perspective on the boards. For a while, I didn’t even visit. When I did, I was tempted to subscribe, but there was no single post that made it seem worthwhile.
I guess the moral is: with free posting comes free responsibilty.
It’s been a looooong time since I last logged in.
Is anyone else having trouble viewing profiles? I keep get a page saying I don’t have the right permissions.
It’s supposed to happen eventually , but I’m not sure it was supposed to happen right away:

Jerry:
A number of days after the upgraded SDMB has been live: We will run the upgraded SDMB for a few days on the new server to make sure it’s functioning as expected. Once we’re satisfied that’s the case we’ll implement the free to post changes we’ve envisioned. That will entail the following:
A) Current Guest users will have their membership level renamed to Member and we will remove the restriction of only being able to post for 30 days. Search capability will be enabled. Users at this level will be shown banner ads, Google Adwords, etc. Users at this level are asked not to thwart our attempts to display advertising to you. In return for viewing that advertising capabilities that were restricted to paid subscribers in the past will now be available.
B) Current Member users will have their membership level renamed to Subscriber. Yearly subscriptions will continue for those that don’t want to see advertising or want to support the message board financially. We’ll also be turning off the Google Adwords ads that currently are being displayed to all users.
C) Current Charter Member users will not have their membership level renamed. Yearly subscriptions will also continue at half the current subscription price. We’ll also be turning off the Google Adwords ads for Charter Members.
D) The complete contents of the SDMB will be opened up to all Web search engine spiders.

Either way, not complaining.
…and now I’m wondering if I have a sig, since I can’t edit it in my profile…
Sigs are turned off right now, another of the things that needs to be brought back in when everything else is fixed.
The sig file was one of the templates that was broken in the migration and it will have to be reestablished before you can use it.
Hello, long time lurker. Thought I would give posting a go, and lo and behold I can now join in on the fun.
Hey…I can post. Imagine that.
That is cool. Not that I’ll be using it much, but it’s been a long long time.
There was a song like that, I believe.
Coooollllll…
I haven’t decided yet whether I should do a happy dance at being able to post, or be sad that my last excuse for wasting time is gone now (although lurking and reading used up hours, too!)
But anyway, a big THANKS to Jerry for doing the work and for whoever approved this new scheme.
