When is it too old for a guy to be wearing an earring? Or does it depend? If it depends, explain.
I wear a CZ stud in my left ear, and I’m 46. Anyone who dislikes that can offer to pay my bills and I’ll consider the arrangement.

All the guys I know with earrings are gay. Apparantly it really does mean that here.

One earring: no age limit
Two earrings, same ear: before first mortgage
Three earrings, any combination: first gray hair; made resume after all hair is silver, or head is shaved
Two earrings, different ears: 24, unless you have more than two ears
Right. I’m old enough to me most people’s dad and some people’s grandpa. Earrings? Perhaps for pirates, gay folks and people who are 24. Otherwise, NOT.
BTW, there’s nothing as dumb looking as some old fart trying to look hip and 24. Makes me want to slap them.

I know that the first time I saw Harrison Ford with an earring (about 3 years ago) in an interview I just shook my head. That was just sad, because it just didnt look right.
Quick question, this lady I know at work about 38, says that she has only was one pierced ear. She said it was hip to just wear one. I was in jr high when she was in high school so I don’t know what the hell she is talking about. Did you ever remember a time when it was cool for a girl to wear one earring?

We wore all sorts of combinations in the 80s. She was probably punk in the mid 80s.shrug I have 5 in my left ear and three in my right and my nose is pierced. And they are going to damn well be there when they stuff my cold stiff body into the fire. Maybe by then I’ll have worked up the courage to pierce my lip as well.
It’s funny you all should say 24, since I happen to be 24. I have one in my left ear. Usually a small silver ring.
I am very old-fashioned. I do not think women look good with tatoos that will should in VERY skimpy cock-tail dress, or men look good with more than a single stud or gold hoop earing. And men with a single gold hoop MUST have sailed across the equator.
But I think older guys with single earrings look great.
I am almost 47 and I usually wear a diamond in left ear lobe. I have a variety of other earrings I also wear. My father is 73 and he has worn a small gold hoop for years. And neither of us are gay.
My dad is 51 and he wears a silver hoop, has for as long as I remember. I think it looks fine.
I think I might have formerly thought that 30 was a good age limit for straight men, but no more. Now, I say no age limit.
Our provost–who is THE leading academic figure at a University; no slouch job, especially at Michigan where the provost also has budget responsibilities–wears one. He’s in his 50s, and not gay.
I’ve never seen him wear a hoop of any size. Just various studs.
My dad will be 68 this year and has had his ear pierced, with a small silver hoop, for about almost 10 years now, or there about. He did it to rebel. 
I think he rocks.
OK, so there’s a bunch of old farts out there with pierced ears. I give up. I was wrong. Mea culpa. I hate myself. I think I’ll go get a tattoo or summat.

I am 32. I have 3 ear piercings. Two in my left, one in my right. I wear one silver hoop in each ear, and have done so for the last 15 years. My grandfather didn’t talk to me for almost two weeks when I had the first piercing done in my left ear. He’s been dead for 7 years now. Other than that, and even during that period, I’ve never really given a shit what anyone else thought of them. I like them, I am comfortable with them and my sexuality, and you’re going to think what you want of me whether I have 25 earrings or none. That’s an issue I stopped worrying about a long time ago.
3, or 25, I am comfortable with; 2, 4 or 22 I just don’t like. [Actually, I think over 5 is a bit excessive.]
I’m 43. I have two hoops in my left lobe and two posts in my right cartilage. No plans at all to stop wearing them.
