Total Recall, I think.

I remember the one where she said she was growing it out. At first I thought she just meant growing it long, but when I saw it blonde, I was all, ohhhh. That. Yeah.

I think her paranoia is funny, and it’d take a lot more of it to annoy me.

I just wish it would either drive the story somewhere, or have her get the fuck over it by screwing things up and getting some self-realization that she’s being a crazy bitch.

With Pintsize channeling Kuato then? Kuato with an inexplicable Austrian accent?

I haven’t seen the movie, but is that why Marten points out that that’s not even Schwarzenegger’s line?

More insecurity on the Dora front.

The little evil monkey that sits at the front desk of my brain really, REALLY wants to see what would happen if Faye got really depressed or impulsive and started making out with Marten.

Is Faye still living with the M man, incidentally?

Yes. But Marty would never go there. Not post-Sven, anyway.
Hanners, though? She was stalking Marty, remember…
Plus he’s seen her boob now.

Except that it IS Arnie’s line, at least the “Get your ass to Mars” part. It’s part of the pre-recorded message he leaves for himself.

This brings up a good point. When Marty admitted to Dora that he saw Hanners’ boob, she blew it off with a laugh and it just reinforced to her that he’d never cheat on her.

Oooh…but at that time he quickly admitted to it. Here, he glossed over being asked out. To him, that’s because it wasn’t worth mentioning and he’d probably forgotten about it, but to Dora it probably means that he thinks it was worth hiding from her.

But she was definitely pissed off even before Marten left work to go to the coffeehouse. I don’t think he could have said anything right.

I just feel that maybe she sees Hannelore as “safe” or too psychologically messed up to really do anything. Hanners doesn’t come off as that sexual to her, and thus I guess she assumes that there’s no reason to be jealous.

Count me in among the “This better lead somewhere” crowd; it really feels like the strip’s been spinning its wheels for a while, and no characters have made any real development of any kind (or even expressed a basic desire to develop). Of course, Jeph will probably just skirt the issue, and then “solve” the stagnation issue by adding yet another character who is exactly as witty and relatively-adjusted as everyone else in the strip, who will stick around for a month or two and then pull a Steve and disappear entirely. That’s kind of the strip’s MO lately.

I nitpick because I love.

And, for the record, I think that in this current situation Dora is grossly overreacting, but the argument will probably resolve with Marten apologizing for something, due to Jeph’s tendency to side with his characters’ obsessive relationship neuroses.

Its a little unclear from the strip’s continuity, but the “boob event” seems to have happened the previous day, or perhaps even “today” in the strip. Jeez, Dora.

Yeah, not nearly as bad as the little of Megatokyo I’ve read (I think there are still unbudged SUBplots from the first 100 issues) though. Or we could at LEAST have another fun arc like the [del]Furi Kuri[/del] [del]Haruhara Haruko[/del] Vespa girl one.

Yeah, it also doesn’t hurt that Jeph stated in a newspost (don’t ask me to look it up, searching the newsposts is impossible) that Dora is his favorite character, so that could lead to bad places.

I hereby demand Jeph have a day calender and a clock visible in every strip.

Its usually somewhat easy to tell when the day changes, because the character’s clothing will be a clue – sayings on shirts or clothing color/style maintains continuity, Jeph is pretty meticulous about this. It looks like the boob thing was the day before, because Dora’s shirt changed from black with the word “Melvins” on it, to dark green with no text; Marten is wearing that black hoodie throughout, so he’s no help. Admittedly it could also have been several days previously, but Hanners is still ill, so it was probably a short span of days.

Not to sound like a total perv (or, you know, to sound like a total perv), is it just me or have Hannelore’s boobs started to look bigger? (Well, actually, I think they started a while ago, but there’s definitely a change from when she first debuted, I think.)

I haven’t noticed, but to be fair I’ve been too busy watching to see if Faye’s are getting any bigger. :stuck_out_tongue:

Honestly, I’m kind of hoping the girl that asked Marten out becomes a strip regular for a while because that would be hilarious. And I really hope Marten gains some sort of spine either in this argument or soon 'cause it’s already gone from “it wasn’t worth mentioning” to “he was trying to hide it.” Meh.

Yeah, I noticed that, but oh well.

Yeah, Marten did absolutely nothing wrong. If some chick I’d never met asked me out and I already had a girlfriend so just calmly said no… why would I even bother to log that in my brain? It happened, it’s over.

Yeah. Dora was fixing to be mad no matter what. It wasn’t even the lying that set her off. She was angry the moment she realized that another woman had noticed her man. I just get the sense that if the student at the library hadn’t come to the coffee shop and Marten had walked in and said, “Hey honey, oh by the way, a girl asked me out today but I turned her down,” the response would have been “Why are you telling me this? Did you think she was hot? Is she hotter than me?!”

I’m glad that Marten called her on the fact that she was also being dishonest since she was basically testing him. It’s nice when he stands up for himself.
