So, we all know that Faye has had feelings for Marten but isn’t emotionally able to be in a relationship with him. Do you guys think this comic means she’s going to go after him at some point? I just sense a Faye going into Marten’s room and engaging in sloppy make outs comic at some point. (Probably not for another six months in our time, but soon.)
I don’t see it - Marten’s not struck me as the kind to cheat, and c’mon - Dora!
Sure, Faye’s got more jiggle (and who doesn’t like the jiggle), but (as Faye recognises) Dora makes Martie happy. I seriously doubt Faye would do that to her friend/boss.
I’ve thought about this (weird, I know), and it would seriously put me off the comic if that happened. It’s just not realistic with the characters as written to date.
I don’t see Marten as a cheater, either, or Faye going behind her best friend’s back like that. What I do think is going to happen is that Faye’s going to hook up with someone else (my money’s on Sven) and Marten’s going to freak out over it.
I don’t think it’s going to be deliberate, but I think there’s going to be an Event. Something that will create conflict. Faye and/or Marten will be drunk and someone will kiss someone else. Or something. Some people will be mad, some will be really sorry, some will confused, and others will be kicked in the beans. It will all work itself out eventually. I’ve always thought of it as inevitable.
If I were betting, I’d go with Miller’s prediction. If there were someone set up for Dora to console herself with, I might consider a potential switchup. But there’s no one.
Besides, Faye has given Sven major shit. And he’s reacted to her comments by making changes in his life. Plotwise, that’s not a small thing.
Also significant is that it’s not clear that anyone else is aware of Sven maturing, or Faye’s role in it. If everyone still thinks of Sven as a shallow, womanizing jerk, and suddenly he and Faye are an item, that’s going to sting like hell for Marten.
I can see the Sven/Faye thing…it’s been on the back burner a while now.
I just feel like they keep hinting that, ohh remember how Marten liked Faye FIRST, and the only thing keeping Faye from being with Marten is her issues…and Faye does drink a lot. I can see the drunken make out session with hella fallout happening. I don’t know that Marten would consciously cheat–he’s a very good boy. But I can see Faye getting wasted and upset over something and finding Marten alone and…doing something she might regret/forget about the next day. I can’t see Marten and Faye rationally in the light of day sleeping together, knowing what it would do to Dora.
Thanks a whole hell of a lot. As if I didn’t have enough to occupy my time at work, now I’ve got a new (to me) webcomic to get caught up on. Honestly, when am I supposed to find time to do my exercises?
Oh, yeah, definitely. I actually stopped reading a while ago because I got tired of waiting for that happen. Guess I’ll have to see what’s happened in the past couple months.
I like the idea of Hannelore hooking up with Steve. Because I think it could be deeply entertaining for the readers. Steve’s brain might come flying out his ears, because Hannelore is a different kind of crazy than what he’s used to dealing with. And it would be the perfect time for that girl on the seagoing expedition to come back! And then somebody could get hit by a bus.
Like flies to wanton boys are we to the gods. Mwah ha ha.
I like Hanners, too. She’s a fun character, despite having a cleaning robot that makes you duck for cover. Or maybe that’s because she has such a cleaning robot? Anyway, she’s very interesting, in a high-strung sort of way.
Having just gotten through the entire archive, I can safely say that I’m now in love with QC. A lot of webcomics with 1000+ strips in the archive usually start flagging around 300 or so, but this was consistently funny. It’s in my comic bookmark folder for continuing consumption now.
Am I weird for thinking RealBoy!Winslow was kind of cute?
