Yeah, I was thinking of Conway’s Life as well. There must be a half trillion Java applets running that and its derivatives (Brian’s Brain and some others I can’t think of.) online. But we all know how the first Game was played: Conway manually flipping those bi-colored Go pieces on his Go board. It’s interesting how complex things can get with only a few simple rules.
In answer to the “do all families fight” question: Well, my family didn’t fight, but we DID cheat. Usually went like this. We’d play for a while. My father would notice that he was losing. He’d do something silly to make my mother and I laugh. I’d laugh so hard that I’d have to run to the bathroom. While I was in the bathroom, my dad would either 1)steal money from me, or 2) from the bank.
I’d come back and not notice until the end of the game, at which point I’d protest, and my mother would explain how he cheated. snickers Damn, I hadn’t thought about that in years…have to ask my dad if he still remembers.
