- I think on the whole broad-based private ownership of firearms does more harm than good, in that their socially-beneficial uses are either trivial or rare, while their socially-detrimental uses, while still (thankfully) fairly rare, have a disproportionate human cost,
- They have a high potential for misuse, and are poorly regulated over most of this country,
- The most visible and vocal proponents of “gun rights” tend to be completely irrational about any discussion of their potential for misuse and the degree to which they should be regulated.
