I just saw an ad for MacGruber on this very board, which got me wondering: I’m pretty sure Peacock has a free version with ads, doesn’t it? And does that free version (if indeed it exists) include MacGruber or only the older NBC content? If questions 1 and 2 are a yes, how bad is the commercial content— are there a ton of commercials? Do not want to pay for yet another streaming service, but do not want to deal with an overdose of commercial content.
Last question— for those who’ve seen the new MacGruber series, any good? I enjoyed the movie and thought it was underrated. The SNL skits, less so.
Free Peacock is extremely limited. I don’t know exactly what they have - you should log in and check. I have the basic paid service, because we’re working through Yellowstone, and it still has ads, which is enraging. If I had to guess, McGruber is behind the paywall.
According to this article, Peacock has free, premium, and premium ad-free options. MacGruber is only available on the premium option or higher-- you’ll have to pay $4.99 a month to watch it with ads, or $9.99 to watch it without.
Me personally, I find Peacock to be worth the money if for no other reason than the fact that it has WWE. But I understand not wanting to pay for another service.
You can think of the payment as prepay for a month rather than as a recurring cost by cancelling after you sign up. The subscribed level of service will typically continue until the end of the subscription period, after which your account would drop down to the unsubscribed level. That’s useful for services where you only want to watch one or two things. By cancelling immediately, you don’t have to worry about the servicing continuing for months because you forgot to cancel after finishing your show.
