Questions songs will never answer.

Do you love me? Will you love me forever? Do you need me? Will you never leave me? Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life? Will you take me away? Will you make me your wife?

Will you still love me… tomorrow?

Actually all those questions are answered quite definitively in the next stanza.

Would you like to swing on a star
Carry moonbeams home in a jar
And be better off than you are
Or would you rather be a mule?

Why can’t we be friends?

Peace - DESK

He’ll never lie to you, and that’s a fact.
He won’t do that.
No, he won’t do that.
Seriously, why don’t people understand this? It’s pretty clear in the song.

And yes, it’s only one of *several * explicitly stated things he won’t do. But “lie to you” is the most obvious one.

I understood this the first time I ever heard it. Does anyone really not get it? Are they just trying to be funny when they ask this question?

“Oh, say can you see, by the dawn’s early light, what so proudly we hailed…
and the home of the brave?”

It’s darned long run-on question, a whole verse long. And nobody ever inflects it like a question.

I don’t think so. It seems to me that the verse is a question, a statement, and another question.
O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

And by the way, the answer to the second question is “no, that name refers specifically to the design used from 1795 to 1818, and there has been 23 redesigns since then”

What’s a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this?

Doesn’t anybody stay in one place anymore?

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?

Who knows how long I’ve loved you?

Hey where did we go,
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow,
[[…]]
Do you remember when we used to sing,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da

I could have snipped it but technically it is one big run-on question.

Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care about time?
The answer to them all, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind…

What… is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Autolycus, I understand why you quoted all the lyrics to Brown-Eyed Girl, but it’s against the rules here. We ask that people post no more than four or five lines from any song under copyright. I shortened your excerpt.

Who’s gonna drive you home tonight?

by the way, which one’s pink?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Why can’t I be you?
Jenny, Jenny, who can I turn to?
Where, oh, where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone?

Where do you go to my lovely, when you’re alone in your bed ?

What’s new pussycat ?

War, what is it good for?

Absolutely nothing! Say it again…

How far is heaven?

Can you take me higher?

Can you take me high enough?

Are you gonna be my girl?

How do you tell someone you don’t love them? How do you tell someone you don’t care anymore?

What would you do if your son was at home crying all alone on the bedroom floor cuz he’s hungry and the only way to feed him is to sleep with a man for a little bit of money…
