quick reply box has been slightly repsitioned on the page

In our previous thread discussing the quick reply box, a poster (I believe it was kaylasdad99) suggested moving it to after the number of pages in the thread display, which will remind users to read all the pages in the thread before popping off a quick reply.
We have made that change.

Makes sense, but now I think it looks funny  I was getting used to it where it was, and was in the habit of scrolling to check for multiple pages anyways. I guess I’ll get used to it, though

Nice, Arnold (or whoever actually did this), that should get rid of a lot of confusion.

I concur with what you said, but I suppose I’ll get used to it, as well.

I’m pretty dumb. After reading this thread, I was like, ‘oh cool! I’ll go check it out.’ So I scrolled down to the bottom of the thread. Wait – I don’t see the page numbers before the quick-reply box. Hold on – I don’t see them after it either. Oh man. My SDMB is broken. Yup. I’m a thinker, alright.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this quick reply box. Best idea since sliced bread.

And the relative time is also above the reply box! Bless you, mods!

Smile when you say that, pardner. Oh wait, you did! Carry on then.

Yo La Tengo - everything done at this board happens under the guidance of the IPU. I suggest you sacrifice a pizza in her honour.
White Lightning - if you post at the SDMB, you obviously are amongst the more cultured and intelligent of the WWW community.

Good thing! I really got used to comparing the time of the last post to the adjacent “The time now is…” to see how old it is and/or how long it was since I loaded the page. Kinda missed the visual clue where the thread ends and the options start, too.

You could make the edges of the quick reply box flush with the thread fields above by surrounding it with another one of their spacer tables.

Personally I don’t really care that the quick reply box doesn’t have the same dimensions as the thread table above it.

Plus, if the lines were still flush people might ignore the number of pages, defeating the purpose of moving it to begin with.

A slightly wider quick reply box doesn’t help much to make people stop and find the page numbers, if they zoom past the big bluish-purlpe-what-ever-the-official-color-name-is bar. Better increase the font size of the page numbers.

I don’t really care about it, either. Only tried it out and wanted to let you know it looked nicer. Straight Dope <> straight page edges, see?

Make the quick reply box invisible pink if you want… :stuck_out_tongue:
