It works if you do it right.
Put as single asterisk before and after text to make it italics. Same as the [i]. . .[/i] tags.
Put double asterisks before and after text to make it bold. Same as [b]. . .[/b] tags.
Put triple asterisks before and after text to make it bold and italic.
Those asterisks must be right next to the text with no blank spaces.
As for headings:
at the beginning of a line for a top-level (biggest) heading line.
at the beginning of a line for second-level (second-biggest) heading line.
at the beginning of a line for third-level (third-biggest) heading line.
at the beginning of a line for a fourth-level (least-biggest) heading line.
That’s one way to make heading lines. There are other ways too.
