Well, according to cecil here and here, you can sell a Kidney for up to $1,500 in India…
Of course, it’s still an unbeliveibly BAD idea.

IANACPA, but I believe that gifts, which it seems as if this scheme would qualify as, under $10K don’t need to be claimed. I have the feeling that I’m seriously wrong about this, though, so YMMV.
Ranchoth, do they pay for airfare?
If it is a real need, ask for a special collection in church.
Otherwise, if you are working 2 jobs and have no car or nothing to pawn, maybe your lack of $2000 isn’t really what you should be worrying about most.
Sell some eggs (the ovary kind, not the chicken kind)
Due to poor planning, car accident requiring a new (HA!) car and new insurance, the need for twice-weekly physical therapy for a few months (not related to accident, but $30 a week co-pays add up), prescriptions not covered by insurance until deductible is met, cut in hours at little job, loss of spousal support, “I can’t pay child support this month”, larger than normal utility bills, and a truly stupid math error that caused a cascading avalanche of fees, AND my landlady losing the rent check, I have fallen behind on the rent. I find myself in the classic Catch-22…I can’t move to a cheaper place until I pay my back rent, and if I had the money to pay the back rent I wouldn’t have any money for deposit for a new place.
My son just started a new job and doesn’t get paid for another week. I went to ask mom for a loan and chickened out, though I did mention I was behind on the rent and was going to have to move…she needs some dental work and is on a tight budget right now, and she has done so much for me in the past. Our church, which has been wonderful in the past, doesn’t do the special collection thing. Quilts take too long and even though I have an attic full of fabric, require some capital outlay. I do need to go back to school, but that is still a lengthy process. I am pretty much at the top of the food chain at my job…even if I got promoted I wouldn’t necessarily get a raise because they didn’t cut my pay when they demoted me 3 years ago.
All the suggestions are great, and I’m starting to think I could come up with a bunch of small stuff to sell at a garage sale. Like the attic full of fabric. But my eggs are 45 years old and that kind of falls under my moral ambiguity umbrella. I’d give one or two to my sister or my daughter, but I like to know where all my chicks are.
Oh, and funfan while I do have a car I need to get to work, my lack of this $2000 isn’t the only thing I worry about, believe me. It’s just the most pressing thing right this minute.
Hate to be a party pooper, but how about a second job? You have had your hours cut at the first job, so you are not working full time. Take a second full time job, even at minimum wage and you’re about 2 or 3 months away from having $2000. $6 per hour for 40 hours is $240 per week, minus 15% taxes is $204. Round down to $200 after state tax etc. and you are 10 weeks away from having your $2000. Include a 2 week delay for the paychecks to start coming in and you are still under 3 months. You could make a deal with your landlord to pay a part of your back debt every two weeks until it is paid off. In the meantime your son’s money will start to kick in so you won’t have to be paying for as much of his expenses. I bet you would get the money even more quickly if you took a job that pays tips, like waitressing.
And yes I have worked two full time jobs at the same time, and even a third part timer for a short time. It isn’t easy juggling the schedule but it can be done. And you only have to do it for 3 months.
The few times I’ve gotten myself into a financial bind I look at work this way, every hour I spend working is another hour I spend not spending.
Oh boy, do I feel dumb. You are already working 2 jobs.
Nevermind.
Can I ask, how many hours are you working?
If you’ve got the nerve, go to your local hospital check out a recipients list and find a patient that needs a kidney. Damn, that’s not bad, I might just try that myself. Should be worth a few thousand $ to anyone in need.
Seems like someone got in trouble awhile back for putting one for bids on EBay. If memory serves the bids were up into the Million$ range before it got yanked by the Feds.
Better yet, go break your arm in a sliding door at some store. Quick settlement out of court for a couple grand.
One weekend get shitfaced and sleep with all your friends husbands. Hell, that’ll pay for years. (assuming ur female, then again not necessary either, if male you might really get paid)
Oh, I’m sorry, I missed the part about legal/moral…in that case your probably screwed.
Wait a minute…I saw a report on a guy in NYC that makes $$$ panhandling the street. Actually had a limo pick him up that evening to go back to his condo.
***This is probably more like what you’re lookin for.
My son’s boyscout troop made over $1000 one weekend selling hotdogs for 50 cents ea. in front of WMart
My daughter’s band makes $1000’s each year on weekend carwashes.
Depending on where you live, raffles are still legal as long as they are run honestly. You own a car, motorcycle, whatever, make enough tickets at a buck apiece to get the $2000 plus replace the item you already own. Then bust your ass to sell all the tickets, and make damned sure you give away the prize. This is NOT legal in some places so check it out.
Garage sales are pretty good too, if you’ve got a place. Tell everyone you know you are planning a sale and why! Get them to put stuff in your sale as a donation or on consignment. A really good garage sale can make the kind of money you need in a weekend if you work it.
Good luck!!!
Well, the only other thing I can think of is to try to work out a schedule of payments with your landlord. If the landlady likes you, she might prefer to keep a good tenant even if it means taking the back rent $100 at a time for a few months.
