I have the latest version of QuickTime installed.
It starts itself during bootup (XP) and has a taskbar icon that you can get rid of it manually but there is no setting to make it stay gone.
I go into MSCONFIG and remove it. I reboot and lo and behold it returns!
Any clues? Many thanks.
I have QT6.3, and it allows me to turn off the tray icon. Open QT, go to Edit/Preferences/Quicktime Preferences Select Browser Plug-in from the menu, and uncheck the box that says Quicktime system tray icon.
Run Regedit and have a look in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Thanks; I will check on this tonight.
It will also resurrect itself if you visit a site and click on a QT movie.
Seems I had an old version installed that didn’t allow for removal of icon from system tray. I have upgraded and all is well;
thanks to all!!!
