People used to get fed to lions in front of large crowds of spectators and ripped to shreds/eaten for their entertainment. People were frequently tortured and executed, often publicly, in thousands of incredibly gruesome and ghastly ways for many years during the Middle Ages. The list goes on and on and on…

What music were you listening to in 1986? I’m older than you are and this was almost before my time. A friend in college was a big fan and persuaded me to watch it (while he made an audio copy from VHS tape; the soundtrack had studio versions of some of the songs).
For the sake of completeness, there is also a relevant sketch on an old episode of Saturday Night Live. Quien Es Mas Macho is a Spanish-language game show (hosted by Bill Murray) in which the contestants have to pick who is more macho. It’s a fourth-season episode hosted by Rick Nelson, available on Netflix and Amazon. The sketch comes right after Weekend Update.

Let us just say I didn’t come by my excellent taste in music until much later than 1986. All I had was the radio, and they weren’t playing anything cool there. I’ve made up for a lot of lost time in my adult years, however. According to my last.fm profile I’ve listened to more than 4600 different artists since 2008 (when I started tracking) - so I’m working on it. I will definitely check the concert and the SNL episode out (if I can find it on youtube) in the near future. Thanks again.
