Here is one example but, in all fairness TellMeI’mNotCrazy certainly isn’t the sole offender in this sphere.
I’m not going to exaggerate and say this happens “all the time”, but it happens frequently enough to really bug me. There is NO REASON to quote a long OP in it’s entirety UNLESS it is very far down the page (or on a subsequent page) of what has become a very long Thread- and even if this is the case I still think it is usually unneccessay unless maybe you want to bring discussion back to the OP after a lengthy hijack.
In the second or third reply? C’Mon folks! We just finished reading the OP we don’t want to read it all over again in your fucking reply! If there are specific points you want to address, then quote ONLY those specific points! You don’t need to quote the whole fucking thing! Although some of us may skim through some replies in a lengthy Thread, we all at least read the OP- you can’t very well make much sense of a Thread if you didn’t read the OP.
I might support quoting other Replies in full if it is a lengthy Thread- some of us might have skimmed the reply you want to address- but the OP? in it’s entirety? Quoting replies in there entirety is, of course, always acceptible if it was very short (2 or 3 lines), if it’s longer you might just want to quote the points you’re addressing, but the OP EVEN IF IT IS JUST ONE LINE LONG doesn’t need to be quoted!

You had to know this was going to happen.

Dante’s Divine Comedy , Inferno, Canto XXXIV
“That soul up there which has the greatest pain,”
The Master said, "is Judas Iscariot;
With head inside, he plies his legs without.
Of the two others, who head downward are,
The one who hangs from the black jowl is Brutus ;
See how he writhes himself, and speaks no word.
And the other, who so stalwart seems, is Cassius.
But night is reascending, and 'tis time
That we depart, for we have seen the whole."
And your wish is granted.
If it’s not super long it doesn’t bother me.

I completely agree. This is very annoying. And you know what’s worse?
Having it pointed out that it’s already been pitted.
And having some jerkwad completely quote multiple items from the thread is much much worse!
Oh. Damn.
Oh well, while I’m causing trouble …

That was pretty funny!
It’s not nearly as annoying as an obvious joke made tedious through pointless repetition.
Hear hear.
I should write an OP where I say how annoying it is when people send me money in the mail, I’d probably make a fortune.

Seriously, is there ANY explanation than that the person clicked ‘reply’ on the post and forgot to delete the quoted portion? ::thinks:: maybe they’re used to newsgroups, where that’s normal? Does anyone who should know better do this?
I’ll leave you with a sig:
A. Top posting.
Q. What is the most annoying thing on newsnet.
Poor guy.
Well, I try to use only what I’m going to address in my reply, whether it’s the OP or subsequent posts. And I also try not to use quotes out of context.
Note my use of “try”.
Fucking arsed bastards. The lot o’ ya.

Dude, that was hysterical!
“That again”.
