Yes, very sad news. She’ll be missed.
I’ve only ever tuned in to PBS for election news, and I really loved and admired her as a journalist and an anchor. Talented and smart. She will leave a big hole.
2016 sucks. RIP.
I rarely have this sentiment, but I will miss her dearly. Much as I missed Mark Haines (CNBC). On the very short list of truly great presenters in the information media.

I’m really sad about this today too. My wife was a professional acquaintance of hers and they would periodically email or have drinks. She is crushed. We spent part of this morning looking for a watch that Gwen had given her after a work trip they took to China. Gwen was always ready to guide and encourage my wife professionally, and my wife is extremely grateful to have known and learned from Gwen.
Gwen was a warm and lovely person with astonishing grace despite the racial and gender animus she endured merely for being a black woman with the temerity to have informed views. I will miss her voice and perspective in the upcoming administration.
As is my daily routine, I started to watch my DVR’ed PBS New Hour last night and was completely shocked at the news. She had become a familiar, and trusted, voice for the news over the years. Oddly, I had noticed she lost weight recently, and I thought she was getting healthy. I had no idea she had cancer, and I guess that either the disease or the treatment was the cause of the weight loss.
We’ll miss you, Gwen.
