But are we giving the PLO billions of dollars in foreign aid? Are we standing by them not matter what they do?
It doesn’t matter whether the Palestinians “started” it or not, Israeli’s method of responding to terrorism is not appropriate and the U.S should not stand by Israel if they continue to do such things.
I have a question. It’s not a question I have an answer for.
Say that instead of standing in front of the bulldozer, Corrie had been standing off to the side, still with a megaphone, but this time with a gun to her head. She makes it clear that if the bulldozer does its work, she will kill herself.
The bulldozer does its work. She kills herself.
Should the responsibilities for the result then be assigned differently?
It’s a good question, js. After a little thought, I would say that in this scenario, the driver should not be assigned responsibility. In this scenario, the instrument of death would quite literally be in Correy’s hands entirely. She alone would be responsible for her own death, and this time, there wouldn’t be any question of intentions.
Were the driver to give in to her demands and stop the tractor, it would actually cause more deaths, because it would inspire other protesters to go out and get their own guns to try the same thing. Giving in to Correy’s demands here would be like giving in to terrorists’ demands elsewhere. The only result would be to further embolden the terrorists.
