I figure it will wind up here soon.
Rachel Corrie was killed by a bulldozer in Israel that was destroying houses. I understand the driver couldn’t see her.

Throw us a bone, man. At least link to the other thread.
Is this a pitting of Caterpillar?
They triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied to kill her with a forklift.
¡Olé!
Literally every time Rachel Corrie comes up, I think of that scene in Austin Powers where the steamroller is heading towards the guard and he screams “NOOOOOOOOOOOOO” for like 15 seconds and then the camera shows that the steamroller is like 100 feet away from him.
I think the whole issue is stupid. And it’s ridiculous that this is one of the things always used to bash Israel. Nothing Israel ever does is good; everything that happens there must be condemned. Iran and Saudi Arabia condemn homosexuals to death and stone women for having affairs, various African countries mutilate girls’ genitals, North Korea is starving its population to death, and…Israel killed a woman in a bulldozer accident. It’s just clutching at straws to try to use that incident to point out how evil Israel supposedly is.
And have you any idea how much damage that bulldozer suffered by rolling right over her ? None at all.
(sorry, couldn’t resist)
I don’t think that it’s a huge deal and certainly not something that needs some sort of huge international condemnation. But even if I don’t agree with the particular rants about Corrie when they occur, it’s well established that it is possible to care about something without making it clear that you also care about everything that’s worse than it, otherwise we’d have no mini-rant pit threads while there’s still crime in America.
Heck, no. I’m trying to draw the bloodshed away from the thread, not towards it.
That was like 7 years ago, right? Why the pitting now?
That was my question. This whole issue was done to death here back when it happened. What’s the point of bringing it up again years later, with no explanation of why?
You’re pitting a woman who got ran over by a bulldozer? Why?
Low-hanging fruit?
Darwin at work.
Oh, come on.
Yes, it was largely her own fault. Yes, she acted impetuously and more than a little foolishly. But she was young; she didn’t deserve to to die.
Rachel Corrie’s death was a tragedy.
Rachel Corrie went home last night and got a 'dozer on her head.
With apologies to Simon & Garfunkel
Yeah, run a bulldozer over it - it’s done.
Ooooooooh!
Another Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan?
Wait a second: If I get pissed off groups of Not-Vigilantes who prevent nice Israeli girls from going on dates with those nasty Palestinian men by definitely not attacking them and beating the men up and not spreading malicious rumors about the girls, I need to make sure I’m also pissed off about the the laundry list given above?
If I get concerned about the number of spies recruited by our bestest friends in the whole wide world, I need to add in a curse for the evil of female genital mutilation?
Am I allowed to concerned about Israel’s nuclear arsenal, without being lumped in with the Taliban?
If I do not like some of Israel’s policies, does that mean I think Israel is evil?
In Argent Towers’s case, yes. His attitude on this subject is entirely emotionally driven, and beyond reason.
